I thought I was in the CP2077 thread...

Got a hold of a reference 6700xt the other day for msrp, reviews seem to suggest at $750 I've got myself a bargain (when compared to what else is out there and actually available). Will be doing a new build with it tomorrow... just not sure what games to fire up first when it's all up and running...

Nah, its the navi thread, its just full of people in denial about the benefits of raytracing because AMD can't do it yet. :leet:

Definitely a benefit imo, I'm super keen for it, but I'll happily wait another 2 or so years for it to mature along with game development, and I'm curious to see the effect consoles have on AMD's version too.

Yeah, it doesn't matter that they don't have it, right now I'd call it a 'nice to have', not essential. Just so tired of seeing it dismissed as adding nothing but costing everything when the reality is quite the opposite, if you have capable hardware.

How much of AMDs poor RT performance is hardware vs driver?

Most likely first gen RT hardware and lack of DLSS alternative (currently).

Yea if you don't use DLSS the performance hit for ray tracing on nvidia is almost just as bad

They are most likely hoping people get pi$$ed off and frustrated and cancel te orders, then flip them for a few hundred more.

Bit the bullet and scratched the impossible to find RTX 3080 for a brand new Red Devil OC 6900XT.

6900XT is a beast, I'm glad I got mine and don't have to worry about GPUs again until the next generation.

Yeah the 6900XT is decent. It is over priced though but eh, mine will last a few years especially once it's under water (whenever that happens, hurry up Heatkiller block!).

Scorptec kindly offered me a 6900 XT now, instead of the 6800 XT I have reserved at launch day prices. They only wanted an extra $1000 for it. I politely declined even though it will likely be 7 months by the time the 6800 XT turns up.

I decided the RTX / DLSS can wait until native titles become more common. RTX should run enabled ok on my machine as i'm still on 1080P but have a 49" 32:9 screen.

If anyone is interested in benchmarks or rough figures (fps & temps etc) for games/benches under the 3840x1080 res I'll drop them in here.

Will be interesting to see what happens to the market when the '302' based nVidia chips arrive in a month or so.

Do you game on that at full width?

I game on a 21:9 and find it probably a tiny bit too wide but 16:9 not quite wide enough. Oddly enough I still quite like 16:10 monitors for many other things but that's enother story.

Yeah full width. I play mostly rpgs and racing sims. It's hard to go back to standard resolutions, particularly with Valhalla.
