ye my daily is a 1080Ti/3700X system, and it flies, but the 1080 Ti powering 3 screens and 165hz 1440p, whilst not struggling in the titles i currently play, will struggle for future games. So 3080 made sense. now also 6800XT makes sense too.

What i want to see, is more in depth reviews 6800XT vs 3080 and 6900xt vs 3090, with a variety of different CPU configurations. to see where the real performance is.

That will come in time. and if not happy with 3700x always gives me another reason to spend money.... haha... must resist

No. It's got nothing to do with direct storage. Smart access memory is the CPU being able to read the entire gpu's memory pool. It has direct access.

    That's how I heard it.

Yeah so if you don't have a 5600x or what ever you will see a drop in performance from what they have listed for the 6800 and 6900xt

Which is weird they didn't keep the benchmarked setting the same across the whole stack

Pretty much the reason I got a 3080, rtx and dlss, raster is fine, raster was fine with a 2080ti for the most part with only a few titles falling short (but like, barely).

The lack of raytracing performance numbers are a little concerning but as has been mentioned, theres probably not much optimisation in current titles and they did mention they would be showcasing games over the next few weeks so maybe there will be some indication there, plus, RT on console titles should be optimised for AMDs solution out of the gate.

Not convinced I need to panic sell my 3080 just yet but that was a very impressive presentation and I look forward to seeing the independent benches. Then panic

AMD has done what AMD does though, kick the industry where the sun don't shine and shake things up a bit, they went from the gutter to kicking all sorts of ass in a pretty short amount of time, very cool.

Kudos to AMD.... excellent! they have brought some irresponsible competition to the GFX High End/Enthusiast market if these numbers hold true in reviews. Hopefully this will mean significant uplift in performance each gen from now on as they battle it out. For the first time in a long time I am considering an AMD CPU for my upcoming build... looking forward to reviews for both of these products shortly.

Wow, cards that will actually fit my case.

Too all the other naysayers, i have had no issues with AMD drivers in 8 months with my 5700XT.

    6800XT looks tempting

AMD looks to have done extremely well. They have recovered from the underdog position (at least in terms of performance) in both the CPU and GPU markets. That's truly remarkable for such a R&D heavy industry.

It's amazing how close in performance the AMD and nVidia offerings are considering where AMD has come from the 5700XT in their previous gen. The uplift from 5700XT to 6900XT is YUUUUUUUUUUUGE
