Nice way to start the morning now to have breakfast and watch all the commentary videos!
Looks like my 9600k and rtx 2080s are going into a travel build... time to budget for a zen3 and 6900xt
save me a thread dive, prices announced in USD?
God I hope we see AIO versions of these things. Gonna watch some videos because I cant be assed reading 10 pages lol.
The madlads have fucking done it!
Also predicted the typical "yeah but much drivers" response
Aww man, now AMD are competing at high end they've forgotten about the poor, where's my cheap ass RX580 replacement?
Short cuts for the lazy
release: 18th nov for 6800s
8th dec for 6900
Things to note, raytracing performance is still a bit up in the air. No benchmarks or mention of it in the press release so... take that as you will.
They've also got a 'Super Resolution' which seems like it might be a competitor to DLSS.
You know something I was thinking of when I heard about the Cyberpunk 2077 delay... I wonder if it was delayed to get some of the AMD stuff in it?
Cyberpunk delays are to do with the current gen consoles having show stopper bugs, the pc versions ready to go
Why isn’t there a 6900?
There’s a 6800.
And a 6800XT.
And a 6900XT.
where’s the 6900?
Feeling a little vindicated in my decision to wait to make a choice rather than try to spend the price of a second hand car on a graphics card.
not enough room between the 6800xt and 6900xt? Same story as the 3080 and 3090?
I wish we had RT performance, months ago I didn't give a shit about it, but now I do and I think its going to inform my choice from now on.
edit: In saying that its pretty amazing that in the space of a year amd have gone from budget/mid range heros to having a series of GPUs that look like they compete in raster very solidly with the very top-end, sometimes winning, and featuresets look like the defining factor when it comes to buying a gpu, pricing and availability aside.
It's a pretty decent performance jump from last year, absolutely!
I would certainly love better RT performance. But we have only seen leaked numbers atm. Hopefully with some actual benchmarks and with optimisations that will come, the performance will improve. Do we know whether the leaked numbers that said it was around 2080ti RT performance were from the 6900xt or lower? Most of the other numbers were from 6800xt, could it be that the RT numbers were too? The other thing to keep in mind is that both the PS5 and the XBS/X will be doing RT the same way as AMD. So hopefully that will mean more games coded to run better with that RT rather than the way Nvidia has implemented (which could include CP2077!). Or I could be clutching at straws haha.
Either way, I'm happy with the performance hike. I was going OK with 2070S RT performance about 3 months ago, so if I buy a new card that performs way better and has RT performance around the 2080ti I guess I can't complain too much
Keen to see Aus pricing. Seems like my ps5 won't be here till next year... Maybe I can get a 6900xt instead
Man, I'm glad I'm a patient man.
Do we need a specific 6000XT thread? Or just update the OP?
Pretty sure a multi billion company can afford to pay for those ridiculous scalpers prices on Ebay.
I'm kind of glad they had no stock, impatience countered!
6900XT - USD999
6800XT - USD649
6800 - USD579
I am glad I waited too. My illusion of maturity seems to have paid off. I will now have a real choice backed by real data.
Smug mode: engaged.
EDIT: Pricing mistake
