Pretty sure ppl have been getting some good clocks out of the XFX cards, do it!
I'm still rocking a 290x under water with ULPS disabled and Crimson Power Saving Disabled.
I use ASUS GPU TweakII to force 100% clock usage with my OC .
I can still manage to get nearly a consistent 60FPS in TitanFall 2 with 6050x1200 resolution.
I don't bother with 1080p anymore.
Need my peripheral covered unless Blizzard forces me to use a single monitor cough cough Overwatch.
But by next year I'm going to have to retire my 290x
I had a go at overclocking my Rx480 Nitro+ last night.
I used the Sapphire Trixx software.
I set it to 1366Mhz and 2100 on the ram, and put power limit up 10%... everything else I left.
Fired up BF1, normaly I would sit between 80-100fps on ultra.
With my overclock I was getting a lot of drops down to 40-50 fps.
I was running the hardware monitor and max temp was 80deg and there was no throttling on the 1366mhz..
Anyone know why I would be getting big FPS drops ?
Custom media PC mavens have something to look forward to...
you sure it isn't throttling... because that is what it sounds like, try ramping up the power limit to 20 and see what happens.
other than that maybe you changed a setting and forgot. but without throttling there is no real explanation for the drop
Did you undervolt at the same (when you overclocked)?
Nope, left everything else as default...
Should underclock at the same time, don't need full voltage to run max OC on the 480 (usually) and will help make sure you don't experience throttling
Maybe hold off on the 1070's. There is word of a GPU dropping in December from AMD. Leaks shouldn't be too far away if true.
there is rumour of a tweaked 480 but i wouldn't hold my breath seems a little weird to refresh that card so close to vega.....then again if they release enough of a boost that would fill the gap...hmmm,i,ll just gather all my chrissie and bday money till then
Ok figured it out... I only noticed it when I was on a particular map.
This seems to be a problem for everyone on this map since the BF1 patch.
Updated review - RX480 kicking ass now
2016 Crimson update also due on the 8th Dec
Great review and good to see. I'm looking forward to the possible RX490/and or Vega announcement coming up.
its good but kicking ass is a bit of a stretch. i still see it as a better buy than the trumpvidia card because as this shows as the api progresses and the drivers progress the performance goes up whereas the trumpvidia cards tend to languish.
the 12th should show up some more details with the horizon broadcast...right now i, m using...*puke* onboard video and honestly intel you suck...can't even play video well without blowing out the temps...so i, m caught in limbo grab a 480 to tide me over or suck it up.
poor little furyx seems to have had an issue with the clean and move...artifact...really bad artifact....dead all leds on solid and no boot....still can't see the issue...sucks i loved that card.
just came across this...was going to read the article on tugtown but screw them and there addblocker video crap...was a useless site and now just plain useless.
if this is true then that gives them consoles and ALL cpu's
This is far more likely related to the current Intel-Nvidia licencing deal expiring, meaning Intel will Licence [low level]tech / patents from AMD instead.
Does not mean actual AMD GPU's on Intel chips, (and consequently, doesn't have the same $ value as licencing an entire GPU )
Still a win for AMD if true, the rumor alone has bumped their price up
Apparently worth 88 million per quarter, not a bad move by AMD if true. Basically free money
maybe the blind lemmings will look past advertising now plus more money more r&d so would be nice.
Wow that sucks on the Fury X. I am a little worried about putting the block on mine, I have read about a couple dying in the exchange.
