Hey red team. Looking at maybe changing over to a 290 or 2.

Which manufacturers honour warranty if the air cooler has been removed. So far it looks like sapphire doesn't. Does asus or gigabyte still cover? Looking to watercool.

I think the idea is you just have to do it, and try your luck - Don't damage it in the process!

Perhaps take a photo of the warranty sticker on the screws just in case..

So, if you had a choice between a Sapphire or Asus reference, which would you be heading toward?

Ok, one more swaying question, what do use to record gameplay. Nvidia shadowplay is a seriously good tool, but what does the ati have offer ( haven't been red team since the 4870). Can you only use fraps or is there an alternative?

I just put a hairdryer over my sticker for a short while, the sticker pulls off damage free, ready to be placed back on again if need be. Took a photo of it too so I know exactly where to place it ;)

That's a pretty creative way around it.

asus repaired and replaced my 7970's and I had removed the covers and paste. last I heard as long as the cooler is back on properly they will honor it. dunno if changed / different for the new cards

Running xfire r290x under water cooling & 100% load gives temps in the mid 40s after long test.

Using MSI korebuster to load the GPUS, the issue though is i see either gpu1 or gpu2 drop down occasional to say 50% load for an instant & then return to full load.

I run a HX1000 psu & with all the crap in my system I am unsure if its due to the PSU or some other issue!

    Any suggestions?

    Mirillis Action
    Dxtory
    Fraps

...in that order. Mirillis Action is amazing, best recording program i have used - including shadowplay.

All gcn based cards have a hardware video encoder don't they? Shouldn't be an issue, tonnes of people on twitch encoding with AMD cards in full hardware.

the problem is with Mantle afaik, i'm not sure if there are any that record it, i used to use AB but that wont work when using mantle,
am seriously considering the Mirrilis Action but am unsure if it will work with mantle

i think there is a way around it where you can get the recorder to just record your desktop, but again unsure of how this works atm

if you are just using DX then any of the 3rd party recorders should work

We could print out new stickers - im sure the image would be easy to find.

But even not trying to be dodgy , but has anyone tested this?
ie send back a card that is obviously had the HS removed and replaced, and being honest about WC it
    - hopefully they would side with the customer, for future card sales.
