HDMI doesn't exist to me in the PC ecosystem until 2.1 so I don't know about hdmi support at all. DP has been the standard in monitors and PCs for some time, and to my knowledge and experience the vast majority of freesync monitors will support adaptive sync with Nvidia cards to some degree over Displayport connections. Issues like flickering, reduced brightness, or broken support are another kettle of fish and why nvidia have their certified list.

"Other GPUs, such as the Nvidia GeForce 10 series and newer, that support DisplayPort Adaptive-Sync, are also expected to work with AMD FreeSync Technology; please check with your GPU manufacturer." Straight from AMD's mouth. If people are using hdmi cables with their monitors then that's a whole other kettle of fish I have never looked into.

worth the upgrade to a 6800xt coming from a 3070?
solely for gaming at 1440p 144hz.

I don't know too about AMD GPUs... last time I had one was over 12 years ago

depends on your 'swap over' net cost

Well one game that I play a lot (F1 2021) my highest fps went from 150 to around 230 - 240 average. Am able to set everything on ULTRA..am also looking at 4K in the near future so for me it was worth it.

I sold my 3070 FHR for $1600 about $600 more than I paid for it.

I sold the 3070 and got a ROG STRIX RX 6800XT LC OC water cooled card and paid $500 on top of what I got for my RTX 3070. The 6800XT is sometimes on par in some games with the 3090 for much less $$.

It's tempting considering PCCG ar selling a Powercolor 6800xt for $1899

What PSU is your system running on?
    I currently have a Corsair Rm750x

Is there anything consider in regards to DLSS over FidelityFX?
Ray tracing I don't really care about... if I want games to look realistic , it means its time to go outside haha

    I have a Corsair RM 850

I think the 6800XT needs to separate power rails to run off..not a single on with 2 x 8 pin plugs..or so i was led to believe.

I run 1440 and the frame rates are high enough not to warrant using DLSS or FidelityFX.

Your PSU is heaps for a 6800xt. As said as long as the changover cost is say $300 or less it sounds like it would be worth doing for the extra vram, getting about ~25% more raw performance. DLSS is technically better overall (especially at more extreme performance settings), but at the ultra quality presets FSR/DLSS that you'd be using on a high end card they are quite close at 1440p/4k. Obviously DLSS is currently locked to nvidia cards only whereas FSR runs on both so consider that as part of the equation as for DLSS only titles you'll be getting similarish frame rates with 6800xt to 3070 with DLSS ultra preset.

Would a 6700XT need separate power rails?

I have run one of both a single 2X 6+2 cable and 2 independent cables, no real difference. It only needs an 8 and a 6 pin. Corsair RM650X for the record.

He probably paid good money for it from a local store. They sit in stock all day long at that price though so sellers need to come to terms with selling them second hand at a considerable loss (you know, how it's supposed to work). Probably won't get bites over 2k.

I can't believe I'm alive and thinking $1700 for a GPU is a good price

If the rumours of mid next year for Eth 2.0 merge is true, you’ve got enough time to almost complete pay a $1700 AUD 6800XT off. Just sayin.

Even if the merge is end of Q1 you’ll still mine $800 - $900 AUD - mad not to!

Anyone know if this is the same PCB as the PowerColor Liquid Devil 6800XT?

Thinking of getting one and swapping over the block from my Liquid Devil if the silicon lottery is better.
