none of it useful to consumers.

it's not like the data centres are full of 5090's. they're either custom cards - no display connectors/outputs, or they're entirely custom rack platforms.

RAM will all server specific modules. that probably won't work in a regular board.

same with SSDs, they'd be 1. flogged, 2. server specific form factors.

    it'll just be ewaste.

The AI GPUs and shit will be a waste, not much we can do with them, someone might work out how to mine on them or something, maybe private AI models. But aside from that yeah ewaste, memory chips can probably be reused but the cores are mostly useless.

RAM will just be used else where, data centers always need more RAM, it'll all be ECC RDIMM so anyone with Epyc or Xeon servers can probably use it if they can get it. Wont be the right stuff to work in "consumer" socket server stuff though seeing that's UDIMM, annoyingly.

Enterprise SSD have significantly more life in them than consumer drives, a consumer drive would be dead in a week under Enterprise workloads, they'll be useful but the form factor is usually a problem.

It won't be ewaste. It'll still be used, but it will be very very cheap. However it will delay the next series of gpu's from Nvidia and AMD. With such a large overhang of server hardware, noone will buy new stuff for a while.

I wouldn’t expect next gen consumer cards until 27 at this rate.

Was planning to grab a new card early next year but might have to grab early by the looks of things.
Are Alphacool the only ones making waterblocks for these?

Bykski and Barrow both appear to have some available for certain models.

OK. My new card is in my rig and running. It was a very tight fit for my case but I still managed. I have done a few stress tests and benchmarks but it seems to be fine.

I was kind of mad - my 7800 XT that I removed looked brand new. Gonna update my sig.

It's very easy to set a custom fan curve to gently ramp up to 45-50% max in Adrenalin.

I think my sapphire 9070xt has a problem ... it has the Nvidia type connection and it black screens during gaming but works great when browsing etc.

So thinking of a new card.............

If all your connections are good then it being a dud wouldn't be a 12V-2x6 specific problem. A warranty replacement would probably be fine.

Just about to build my first non-Intel rig since s939 days, so this post's a bit of an RFI for "which 9070xt"...

B850i 7800x3d (may upgrade) 64G Lian-Li MiniV2 custom loop based on mora4-4. Looking to purchase next couple of days probably from Ccom...

Is it a matter of just buy the most expensive or is there a better value proposition in one or two of the other cards?

My take on it would be that the performance is all roughly in-line, with some of the upper models providing more TDP headroom for a few more percent and better cooling for quieter operation. Then there are just other considerations like the physical dimensions (is she gonna fit), and are you comfortable with 12VHPWR or would you rather ol' reliable 8-pins, etc.

Only real difference with GPUs these days is the cooler & power connector the cards themselves all perform near enough to one another to not matter and if you keep them cool they'll all boost the same anyway. Also the XT cards can drop around 50w on average while still boosting the same.

I always recommend cards with fat heatsinks (unless your going water) and sticking to the tried and true 8 pin power connectors, no point dealing with the 12vhighfail if you don't have to. I already have a 9070 Red Devil, monster cooler but in my oven of a room it barely goes over 60c, still deciding if I'll get a XT Red Devil or not for my Linux system, kinda cbf pulling out an extra 8 pin cable for it though .

I have had 2 failures and both the 12v ..... one Nvidia and one AMD so I am a bit gun shy
