I was hoping for more from AMD, but i agree with you on this.
I don't think it will be dead, Navi will be in both Xbox and PS5 consoles, phones, cloud gaming and notebooks. It's just the PC enthusiast market where it may be dead, I don't think AMD really cares to much about this market any way, it wouldn't be a huge profit area for them.
Also the fact the navi architecture will be across so many platforms you might find that a lot of upcoming games will be optimized to run best on Navi for cross platform compatibility, and that Navi based graphics card will run those games better then a equivalently priced Nvidia graphics card.
Any way I'm excited to see what Nvidias response will be, hopefully cheaper and more powerful graphics cards. I'm due a GPU upgrade and it looks like the next few months are going to be very interesting.
Lol that old chest nut
And gpus have been used in PS4 and xbox consoles for a long time now and it has helped them get the performance lead oh wait
i read it he is hoping that because it is in a console it will help them in the performance department -- well that has not hlped amfail over the last 5 + yhears
Before E3: lolol no 16 core CPU amd r teh fail
E3 Happens: ....
E3: lolol no 2080 performance amd r teh fail
I wasn't talking about them getting overall performance lead, just saying it wont be dead in the water as you commented.
I think this time round it might be different with game optimization, the fact that nearly every other segment of the market will be powered by Navi, games studio will have to optimize for it. Microsofts xCloud will also be navi powered along with the new console any game studio that microsoft owns will code for it.
I have no doubt that Nvidia will still be the top dog and perfomance king at the top end, and I'll probably get a Nvidia card myself.
In the end who knows if we will even need a GPU in the near future if game streaming starts to take off.
I'm curious - you don't believe AMD will just reduce their prices accordingly?
lol by what $50 under the nvidia card -- its not worth buying an amfail card for a $50 discount and giving up all the options that an nvidia card gives you
If Navi's not competitive at RRP, AMD will just price this card down to whatever level it sells bucket loads of them.
Only way this card won't be good value for gamers, is that it is so good value compared to nvidia for compute that compute customers buy them all (which is actually fairly likely).
D00d... where u been?!?! RTX is da bomb!
Seriously? not worth the $$$ at all. Thats a very poor example, give me something better to make me think the 2080ti is worth $2100
this must be a joke about amd doing rtx on consoles ?
Trying to find out if there are any pr0n games that uses RTX already... then you know a tech is ready for mainstream... right?
these are really dumb comments unless your mocking amd's rtx attempts at consoles to stay relevant, then gg
RTX, DLSS, Gsync + a bunch of other nvidia only options
Tech demo, useless, meh, handwaving...
but for the misiscule price difference why wouldnt you choose that option and have it as an option considering they will be about the same performance ( at least until the 2070 super drops)
Saying greedy assed Nvidia holds the performance crown is about as meaningful as informing the average punter that the 600SEL Mercedes Benz is the best car.
except in this instance amd have priced a greatwall ute @ the 600SEL mercedes Benz price (minus $50)
