2070 super pulls 212w as tested, a 5700xt won't do that unless overclocked and powerlimit pushed up - mine draws about 180w at full load with stock settings, 220w when tweaked

AMD has shaky launches. If you want stability, either wait or buy NVidia/Intel.
NVidia will do better simply because of the bigger budget.. this is one of AMD's weaknesses. It's the reason there are so many driver issues with AMD products. NVidia can afford to send teams out to all these different developers and work with them to make drivers for games and other applications... you don't really see or hear about that with AMD much. Maybe they don't care to do it?

If you are referring to failed RTX cards, it was due to faulty Micro memory.. personally I wouldn't blame NVidia for the issue, and it's long been fixed.


Unlike AMD, NVidia never had any driver issues and they don't launch new cards with shitty blower coolers that overheats and hangs in game menu(Linus Tech review), worst cooler ever tested(Gamers Nexus).

 

the more you post it. the more inclined i am toward amd. negative press has the opposite effect on me. ive had nvidiot cards. nothing wrong with the ones ive had. still, if i want an nvidia advert. i'll go to an nvidia thread. how's that for an idea?

It'll be interesting. I was getting constant crashes in one place in the Wolfenstein New Colossus game, and I think the nVidia drivers are a main part of the problem. I'm keen to see if the same problem exists with the Radeon card.

 

Oh wow, one game.. And not my style of game.

But I noticed you missed my other point - the one about competition. Because you clearly want to pay >$1000 for a 2060 that performs like a GF2MX. Raytracing is nothing new and essentially still a gimmick. That leaves an AMD card at 1/2 the price and only slightly lower performance as a much better value option.

After years of failure AMD doesn't have the money for a decent driver team which a shame because their latest hardware is decent IMO

 

I've honestly never had an issue with their drivers over the years and their updates seem to be pretty on point with new games now days. Agree that they weren't the best for that in the past in that regard, but I still never had any issues (just not as much performance I suppose?).

The only noticeable driver issue I can think of was many many years ago with my 6600gt it used to display my half life 2 water in green!

 

Maybe I'll buy the GPU and stick it in my existing i7 6770 system and see what changes I can notice with that as the only variable...

 

Do you think these 5500s will be low power like GTX 1050 Tis?
