What do you guys think about the performance increase this chip will have over the 955?

Thanks for the news, wOOt, that is awesome, keep them coming AMD.

Gee whiz, I might actually end up with a new set up by years end, only problem being, will this be the last/highest clocked quad they release under AM3 :Paranoid:

Well its only a 200mhz increase, so i doubt its major.

Wonder if the NB will be raised to 2200Mhz on this one.

Wow, they make it look so easy! They're increasing Mhz at a rate chooks lay eggs.

Does anyone else think K10 afterall might have a brighter future?

Certainly looks like the revisions and yields for the new Phenoms keep on getting better and better at AMD  a testament to the work of their engineers and IBM for making what seems to be an excellent transition to 45nm

It's more a demonstration of how broken 65nm was..

K10 from the start had a higher frequency ceiling than K8, it's just the process and the mysterious clock signal issues that ACC 'rectifed' that let phenom down.

I'm curious to see how far they will keep going in regards to frequency.

I'm impressed with the TDP still only being 125watt. If these are at a good price I might pick one up. All I want is a 24/7 4ghz quad core chip is that to much to ask.

Curious to see if this will result in significantly improved, say 200mhz faster OCs, or if it will have much the same limit as a 955. That bloke hits 4.3, seems like most people only hit about 3.8 on air with the 955. If you can expect at least 4ghz without really expensive kit then that would be absolutely fantastic, especially so if they move this into about the same price point as the 955 was not long ago.

God wish I knew when this was going to come out, im still building my PC (prob 2-3 weeks away from being ready for a CPU).

Really want the 965, but not knowing when it will come out means I may have to just go the 955

I'll spewing if I buy a 955 and the 965 comes out a week or two later LOL.

I wouldn't recommend buying 955 now esp. when 965 is just around the corner. I bet in the next 2 weeks, it should hit the shore.

3.4Ghz is a healthy clock speed. 965s might run 3.8Ghz default clock!

I have played with 940 AND 955, both have 400Mhz overhead @default vCore.

965 and 975 will be awesome!

Aussie shores?? Two weeks for sure?

(I'm quite a bit out of touch on the cpu side of things)
