Wonder how much of this is the Australia Tax.

Still shocking to see it the price of the 3080 (and not to fanboi here) where Nvdia has a more mature/feature rich ecosystem (if those features matter to you).

This is insanity. I have seen the prices for the 3090. Its a video card for the 1 percent. Its out of control.

It's only 1 retailer and it may be placeholder pricing. Lets wait n see but not looking good.

If stock is scarce until December then retailers will gouge as much as they can. Sigh.

the year is 2020, computer part pricing has gone back to the early '90s, consumers are expected to pay top shelf for mid-end parts. My prediction is late 2020 - early 2030 we have another dot-com bubble, this time from China. We are to see nvidia and amd competing with intel just like 3dfx, nvidia, ati back in the days competing on pure rasterisation and specialised Raytracing compute unit. 2040 we are seeing the like of Physx card back in style selling comprehensive Raytracing performance, physic and ASIC. Everyone given up using traditional banking system and GPU is specialised for bitcoin miner and gamers. WAKE UP SHEEPLE THIS IS THE BEGINNING!

Stadia is the only real winner here.

    Get off the gear treadmill.

You realise AMD aren't the ones that set the price for AIB cards... They set the price for reference but AIBs set the price for there own cards. A lot of the gouging is also suppliers, distributors and retailers.

I certainly won’t be paying those prices. If that’s what the cards launch at, I’ll wait to try and get a reference model or a ‘cheap’ 3080.

Me to the letter. I desperately wanted to buy a new AMD card, my last 2 were R290's in CF so long overdue. Thought getting an all AMD system would be awesome but looks like the 3080 will come in before the 6800xt so I'm going to green team :( I get it we are in less than ordinary times, demand is through the roof, we have reduced manufacturing capacity not to mention logistical issues on top of everything. But yeah, thought AMD would have certainly looked at the nvidia launch and perhaps tried to do it better.

There is buckley's chance I am paying $1400 for a Radeon 6800xt, its a great card and can be considered a contender to the 3080 but all up its still more a budget choice in the end and this markup just drops its entire value proposition. Anyway, I'll still look around tonight in case there is a chance I can get a 6800xt sub 1150, if not I'll stick to the shitty Zotac i have on order :/

7 stages of grief explained in this thread:
Shock: no way this is a paper launch
    Denial: AMD must have stock
Anger: How dare they bait and switch
Bargaining: If you don't give me 6800XT I'm getting a 3080!!! (I'm at this stage btw)
    Depression: I play console now...
Acceptance: No games for you this year, Cyberpunk delays again anyway
Rebuilding: We are all gamers, we have back log to finish on Steam, we can do this!

I can't hold onto my Sapphire R7 370 for much longer, especially with a 4k monitor in the post (obligatory Cyberpunk 2077 inspired upgrade). I'll only be considering Sapphire because of how good my experiences with them are, but if they are charging significantly above a PLE 3080 XC3 Ultra preorder I just won't be able to purchase. Dissapointing. Genuinely considering trying to import stuff from the US (Founders Edition 3080s from Best Buy) but that's a whole other can of worms. Anyone had any success with that kind of thing? Cheers.

You guys are making it like there is an abundance of 3080's around the place. Having said that I'm not paying $1400+ for a 6800XT.
