Sounds like another boring presentation :o

    That's fairly interesting though.

With all the impressive hardware, ATI doesn't know how to keep their drivers updated and glitch free working with major games. It is good for ATI to release a DX 11 card before nVidia cause that way they will undoutedly get some extra sell, but until they know how to write device drivers properly supporting major games, its nVidia for me all the way.

QFT. I wish ATI would do more quality assurance before launching products, that way they don't need to releases constant hotfix drivers and I'd have more faith in their products being supported by better, properly tested and optimized drivers.

Nvidia are in the same boat i had to wait 4-6 weeks for nvidia to update their drivers, my gtx295 kept windows bluescreening becuase it had some error with certain textures couldnt play tf2 in this time although it did seem random.

So both companies are fault not just one.

God that was a pain in the ass bug. The one in Left 4 dead where the game would hang for 1 min then keep going. Another Nvidia stuffup. And it's not like TF2 and L4D are small games.

ATI and Nvidia both suck at making drivers.

This guy has uploaded all the DX11 demos used:

    http://www.youtube.com/user/Hardwarehorst

The whole demo is about tesselation. A feature ATI cards have supported for quite some time with DX10.1...

Nothing to do with DX11 at all IMO.

Might as well be a 4800 series card running this demo...

    Use the Edit option.

What are you some nvidia fanboy. This is good news. Shows AMD/ATI is on track to have there cards out for Windows 7.

Maybe the demos were locked at 30fps ? I mean there just tech demos whats the point of them running at 150 fps ?

I my self will be waiting untill For both ATI's and nvidia's cards before moving up. I've never had a huge problem with ATI's drivers so that wont hold me back.

same here, and ill be choosing the brand with the best bang for buck (in the $350-400 price range, the sweet spot..), like i always do.

ive had both have their driver bugbears in the past for me, so basing on driver quality is irrelevant - especially with new windows OS, directx version and gpu architechture all coming soon.. theres bound to be problems in either camp. along with the usual random issues with X game like there always has been..

Until they show off a 5-series card, they can show all the presentations they want.

Haha you are right, what was I thinking :) Any negative comments are not welcome in ATI threads...

I love ATI, had a Radeon 9800 and the last card was a 4850.

But tesselation? This feature has been in every ATI card since the HD2000 series (the xbox360 also has one). It has NOTHING to do with DX11!

So yea sorry for pointing it out :)

Also, the whole demo wasn't about tessellation. AMD talked about Compute Shader 5.0, Stream (GPGPU) and multi-threading as well.

DirectX has never support tesselation until DX11. Also current ATI hardware will not support DX11 tesselation as the DX Tesselation API is a superset of ATI's current and past implementations.
