Turbo mode is stupid for people to use though. The difference between that and balanced was only a few fps. But balanced used a lot less power.
Does anyone find it funny that people are complaining about power draw? Like think of it this way, would you buy a performance car and complain about fuel usage? You are buying it for performance, not efficiency. Exciting times for AMD ahead.
i personally dont care about the power draw on high end tech but people are annoyed its drawing more then a 1080ti when its slower. People that own a 1080ti however i don't think complain about the power as its pretty much the benchmark i guess. Given what the RX580 pulls we probably could had guessed this was going to use a lot more.
Agreed, I was far more interested in Price/Performance or Performance/Watt. Price/performance at the price I paid was better than 1080, pity it's not the case with all models out there, but if you can find one of the ~$700 Vega 64's they are a great option for the price.
So I hear the original prices were introductory pricing, and the MSRP is going up $100 US. If so some of you got a bargain, if your not set on AMD maybe you can flip it unopened on ebay to miners and buy 1080ti
For me its not a deciding factor, price/performance is far more important. But still, its a factor. If the competition offers similar performance at a similar price but my power bill be less, then I may as well pay less and get the more energy efficient card. For those who don't have monstrous power supplies it also means they can get away with a cheaper PSU when they build their system, saving more money again.
That's true. I did mean a WC version though. Power wouldn't be so much of a problem if Vega wasn't a year late to the party and actually beat the 1080 at launch without having to wait for driver updates. Don't get me wrong I want AMD to succeed but Vega when you think about it while it performs, for a cheaper price and far less power you can get a 1080 which will currently perform better and who knows, Nvidia could do a driver update like they did for the Titan a few months ago and kick the performance up again. I'm personally waiting for Vega 56 still but if it's priced to high I'll just buy a 1080 because I'm sick to death of having stupidly hot noisy cards. I'd actually buy a WC 64 and run it at the lowest power saving mode and just mess with my game settings to get good FPS providing I can get it cheapish (<$1000).
Here's a quick and dirty way to calculate your electricity consumption in NSW. http://www.ausgrid.com.au/Common/Cu...age-calculators/SmallApplianceCalculator.aspx Quick example. 200w appliance running 28hr a week ( 4 hr a day aka gaming) will cost you around $60 a year.
$60 x 4yrs ( around the average people hold onto their cards) = $240. I know you upgrade every 3 mths lol
bahahahahaha yeah we can blame windowed panels for that. I get sick of looking at the same shit and get the bug again! I just dont game 28 hours a week though
i really wish man! i work after work! I get maybe 4 hours a week if i try. My PC is for mostly work purposes. So steam sits there teasing me all night. I watch 1 hour of TV a night with my misses.
haha yeah mate thats why i didnt pay for a freesync or gsync LCD. Noise is No.1 for me. If it aint silent it aint worth buying. EVGA FTW3 for life.
So true, I hate noises as much as the next guy. Nvidia/AMD have to pay me if they want me to game on their FE BS GPU.
