hoping for another 1950x (the one that killed the Geforce3 TI - I think).

I want Nvidia to do what Intel did, drop prices and bring products forward.

All round winning for the consumers.

Literally none of that is official. All rumours and just BS.

Why not make it the same time next year instead

Really AMD don't have a choice they have to release in the next month especially if the leaked Volta is real.

You guys hear, Vega may be out around July - August now...

Doesn't that mean it'll be going up against Volta?

    Volta should be a Q1-Q2 2018 product

Release date (for vega) should be a known quantity after computex

That's still only 7 months away for Volta.

Yeah I know we'll know at Computex but if they really do wait till July... that's a really bad move, even if they don't have the stock at least releasing the damn thing will show how well it performs and then people can decide if they want to wait for stock.

Checking Reddit and other forums, a lot of people are already jumping ship from this news and going the 500 series or Nvidia 1000 series.

AMD should probably get in the habit of detailing products properly earlier (even if they aren't ready) because AMD fans and the internet in general like to get over excited and stoke the fire in that hype train.

I don't think anyone realistically expects this card to compete with gen1 Volta, I guess we just have to hope Vega matures quickly and Vega2 will kick back a bit.

I'm still waiting to see, ideally I'd like to sell my 1080 and grab a vega card so I can get a freesync monitor (fuck g-sync price inflation...). If they release something reasonably priced in the 1080 performance bracket I'll be contented.

Not a matter of waiting, it's a matter of having something to sell. HBM2 availability, gpu yields @ clockspeeds and core voltages required to be competitive are the factors deciding release date

They probably shouldn't have created marketing material saying "poor volta" if they didnt want people to expect this card to compete with gen 1 volta.

This is a new architecture like Ryzen, the Vega2 and Zen2 parts are more easily to come by once the ground work is done.

I'm sure AMD will have a new product ready for Volta when the time comes. I don't think either company is in a rush with consumer products atm because of this machine learning frenzy everyone is in, its all about where the money is in the end.

One day soon we will have our David's and Walters, THEN Xenomorphs.....

I agree, but also like bricks they stack well.

Unrelated I'm also quite interested to see how the Vega architecture and especially HBM2 handles GPU mining algorithms. Having a ridiculously excessive amount of GPU's for gaming is great if you can justify it with $40/day mining returns :Pirate:

I don't see how AMD can stuff this up..

Nvidia highlighted how a $3,000+ ROG laptop with a 1080 can beat a $500 PS4 PRO (which uses AMD) by more than 60% at their keynote..

So in theory, all Vega has to do is beat the Nintendo switch (which uses nvidia) By more than 65% regardless of cost, and it's automatically better!!!

All AMD has to do is not go full retard like Nvidia did, and all is well
