I must agree, got PS4 this week as a B'day gift, been playing God of War, and the only thing I could think about was, (aiming with the controller is spastic, would have been heaps better with mouse) and the obvious terrible framrate...

DBZ Fighter 4k@60fps with controllers (PC hooked up to 4K TV)is nice and fluid, compared to God of War on PS4

Yes Freesync 2 can do HDR

But it came late, and what it can do is not really clear.

Gsync has done UHD IPS 144Hz G-Sync HDR1000

Freesync 2 has not done anything particularly interesting in the IPS/Freesync/HDR space that I can see.

Hopefully freesync 2 is capable of competiting as Nvidia are charging too much for it.

Freesync will gain traction due to AMD APU's in consoles. TV manufacturers might even start incorporating it into TV's.

    anyway meh

Samsung already have it seems in some of their QLED TV's so it's already happening.

Right now its likely a lot more then that, probably $300-400 at least.

The latest version of gsync has its own built in computer to handle HDR etc.

Thats part of why I"m unsure if freesync 2 can even do it, since nvidia put that mini computer in for a reason (I'm assuming)

It was working a few patches ago, you just needed an amd card as well.

I can't remember if its been again patched out or not.

I think demand from mining has been steadily declining over the last couple of months. After the massive price drop, mining is not profitable anymore. For that reason nVidia's stock price dropped quite a lot.

    Gotta pump those dividends.
It's interesting that Nvidia's taken a hit due to the mining downturn, AMD were the ones who moved a lot of units because of it, but probably didn't really make a shit ton out of it on the margins because the retailers/importers were the ones pumping prices. A lot of mining gear has been for sale on Facebook, and maybe 3 out of 10 rigs were Nvidia based from what I've seen.

Goes to show that most investors are emotional idiots and know nothing about tech in equal parts, given that AMD are still a while off putting anything out that's competitive with the current generation of cards, I'd have thought Nvidia would be a buy.*

*IF YOU'RE A BIT DUMB, THAT'S NOT ADVICE.

You don't need to aim in gow really.. Not much anyway. And ps4 pro runs game at 60fps if you want smoother. But I am lovin it in 4k hdr with its clever motion blur it's fine.

Back on topic. I hope amd comes through. Lack of competition is clearly unhealthy.

there I fixed it for you -- if they are only releasing somethign to compete with a 1080 ti well that is a generation old now

it will be probably 7-8 years before amd can actually compete with the CURRENT generation of nvidia cards (e.g. 2080ti)

only for pricing, and AMD were happy to tag along with inflated prices with Vega. nvidia are still pushing tech.

Well considering the RTX2080 is still only the same speed as a GTX1080ti, nvidia really only have 1 card that's faster.
So IF the new cards come out with 1080ti speed, then that means they ARE competitive with only 1 card being faster than what they're releasing....
but that's IF they deliver this time round...............

how many games support it so far?
    1% if you're lucky

and take RTX out of that equation as it's WAY too slow still
