I used a rocket 88 for my first delid on the 7700k just the other day, easy as pie mate. Stabbed myself with the syringe of Liquid metal though lol

I just did the 8350K with the Rockit 88 and it was very easy, plus much safer than in the vice. I've had no issues in the past doing them manually, but I still highly recommend this.

I used Conductonaut, then a tiny smear of RTV clear silicon to reseal.

30c drop under load is well worth it!

Hi all, want to register my interest on hiring a delid tool based in Melbourne as well (7820x). Maybe if there's someone that has one and there's enough interest, we can setup an afternoon get together. Happy to chip in to pay for the hire and also for the Conductonaut, Liquid metal, silicon.

I first used Liquid metal as thermal paste between my IHS and my waterblock, before using it on my IHS, i did a test on a paper towel and it squirted out, splashed and got onto my beige chinos... lol

My rockit 88 tool has shipped. So too has the UHU high heat silicone and the Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut. 8700K and MSI Gaming M5 sitting here doing nothing. My system is now on the bench ready to be pulled down.

I'll probably give you a shout once I track a CPU down. Do you have a tool or just nerves of steel?

Damn, if you had posted this last week I would have hit you up for the 6700k I acquired on Sunday. I was going to buy a tool but might find another excuse to head north to the beach again.

I'll flick you a PM in a week or two.

You helped out a guy on whirlpool forums. He was extremely happy. Well done mate! Great to see.

I received my conductonaut from PCCG today. The rocket 88 and silicone are sitting in customs.

Amazing I can received items from around the world faster, than Australia Post can send locally............

Only use tools mate. First few I did for myself years ago were razor or vice, but the tools just take away 95% of the risk for damage.

Couldnt count how many I've done now, and not one damaged.

Cool beans. You got my number, so just let me know when your coming up next. Takes me about an hour to get it sealed enough for transport.

Cheers, he was quite nurvous about it all, but he was totally wrapped after the fact with the difference it made for him.

I had my 4670K done by Headin2001 last week - amazing process, was turned around overnight (shipped from Melb), and got professional photos of the process.

It made a massive difference on my chip, summary of results as follows on Realbench 30 min stress test:

    Pre De-lid:

    4.0 ghz @ 1.2V = 78° Max

    4.2 ghz @ 1.3V = 93° Max

    4.3 ghz @ 1.3V = 96° Max

    After De-lid:

    4.0 ghz @ 1.2V = 59° Max (19° diff)

    4.2 ghz @ 1.3V = 71° Max (22° diff)

    4.3 ghz @ 1.3V = 73° Max (23° diff)

    4.4 ghz @ 1.35V = 81° Max

    4.5 ghz @ 1.4V = 86° Max

    Photos of the process

Sorry for the bump.. Have a Rockit 88 tool in Perth if anyone wants theirs done! I also have CLU and Conductonaut on hand, and plenty of experience (I've delidded about 15 CPUs so far) if anyone wants a hand doing it too.
