if I had to nit-pick the name & the box I dont like..
The rest is pretty sweet
When is the extreme edition due in shops?
The 2 Aorus cards have different factory OC speeds.
The white/orange thing is a basically a replacement of the G1 models beucase it seems Gigabyte is retiring that name. I'd expect a Windforce (basic card with custom design cooler) and a turbo card (FE knock off) once the GTX1080Ti GPUs are readily availible.
I hate the orange accents.
wouldn't the non-extreme Aorus overclock to exact same clocks as the extreme? there doesn't seem to be any difference cooling/power wise.
now, picking one up this afternoon.
lol......ok yeah not a bad way of looking at your gear
I have a window but can hardly see anything inside due to location next to right side of desk.
straight from the GB website.
AORUS Xtreme: Boost: 1746 MHz / Base: 1632 MHz in OC mode
AORUS: Boost: 1708 MHz / Base: 1594 MHz in OC mode
Can Gigabyte confirm what type of fans are used on this card? I'd love to know if Gigabyte have changed away from brass sleeve bearing fans in favour of either maglev or bearing based fans.
seems similar to the Asus and MSI.
surely a manual overclock on non-extreme will hit Xtreme speeds and beyond.. not worth paying the extra for.
I remember when factory overclocks used to give you real world 15%-25%+ increase in frames
25%? that's like difference between a 1080 and 1080ti
Nvidia wouldn't allow that now haha
Out with the old in with the newbie. It's YUGE!
He's going to war folks.
the difference is only $20 on PCCG... but yeah, the non extreme shouldn't have any problem reaching extreme speeds.
First off, thanks for the warm responses everyone! I'll address some of the more common questions below:
is gigabyte or ek going to produce a waterblock for this card - @Scum
-Yes EK will eventually produce a waterblock, and we will also have some in-house water cooling solutions coming later in the year!
How much cooler is the card with a copper back plate? How much slower is the fan? Who pays shipping for warranty? What of these questions? - @Bastard_Child
-According to our R+D team, about 3 degrees cooler, and shipping for warranty I believe is case by case, you can PM me for more info in the result of a need for RMA!
does it perform better than the others? - @aussie-revhead
-According to Tech Powerup: "Compared to both the ASUS STRIX and MSI Gaming X, the Gigabyte card comes with higher clocks out of the box, uses less power, and runs as quiet (ASUS) or quieter (MSI). So far, it's the best GTX 1080 Ti I've reviewed." We're pretty proud of it!
When is the extreme edition due in shops? - @hYpz0r
-It's already available! It just sells out very quickly with each new shipment!
I hate the orange accents. - @dANiel_
-I understand, it's not to everyone's taste, I recommend buying a sharpie and colouring them over
Can Gigabyte confirm what type of fans are used on this card? I'd love to know if Gigabyte have changed away from brass sleeve bearing fans in favour of either maglev or bearing based fans. - @Rammoth
-We've swapped to ball bearing fans for quieter fans and a long lifespan, it's still out patented windforce fan design
We're so glad to see people excited for this card, and I'll do my best to keep everyone updated!
And @jpw007 thanks for the heads up, updated now
Gigabyte social media team = A+
You're going to lure plenty of customers away from the likes of EVGA and ASUS for serious graphics cards with an offering like this and social media support.
You just lured one today. 1080ti here I come.
Couple of updates on mine, played some games over the w/end, plenty of buttery smooth 4K goodness to be had - ME:A looks STUNNING.
The fans have this awesome feature where they switch off completely when you are outside games - pretty cool.
Registering for my free game on the AORUS site was painless and quick, I submitted my info on Saturday and received my key about 48 hours later. Still have to activate it but pretty happy with that turnaround.
That's what we're working towards, always improving!
I'm on here fairly often, and am always looking to help out the customers
