Im hoping that they announce a change to iOS as well. It needs a big change up to compete with android 3.0

Spec wise i think the iPad 2 will be similar to the Xoom

    I'm expecting light updates.

    Lighter
    Thinner
    Faster

And I think we will see both Philip W. Schiller and Tim Cook on stage.

    Possibly bigger storage

I haven't seen any details as yet. But I'd be surprised if we didn't see anything streaming on Apple's website.

I reckon they will announce the iPad 2 and possibly iOS 4.3, but it wont be available until later.

Indeed, it seems 4.3 is overdue anyway, a good opportunity to release it.

a lot of scuttlebutt is that this ipad is more likely to be ipad 1.5 and
the real ipad 2 will be released later on in the year. (according to macrumors, etc)
Still Apple are the masters of hype nowadays and no matter
what if this new ipad has only incremental improvements, it'll still be gobbled up by the public.

Well as with most companies once you get a product out and it's well received you keep on evolving it, hard to come by many revolutions these day.

Since it was Apples first tablet like product, i'm sure they've gotten a big amount of feedback which this revision will address.

My biggest problem with resolution bumps is how it makes so many older apps / books / whatever redundant if you want them to look nice, sharp and pretty. They don't scale up, so you're left with a SD version, HD and what next... SHD?

Then we get to buy the same app for a third time. Yay!

Everything apart from the display seems to match what people are saying around the net.

Considering the games and applications they've been able to do the current 256mb, anything more is a bonus.

As far as multi-tasking is concerned, the programs continue to run, correct? They don't just save states, AFAIK. In which case, it would go hand in hand with a dual-core or even just multi-threading, so it can do more things at once.

I don't personally have one, so I can't voice any legitimate concerns, but pumping it up to a dual-core is going to have a big impact on both cooling and battery life, yes? Both of which are difficult to account for without increasing the size or scaling down the speed of each core, which is a big nono for legacy single-threaded apps which assume the 1GHz Cortex A8.
