Turn off location notifications... iOs5 is polling gps, wifi and mobile cell towers to get a location fix. Obviously anything radio related probably wastes more juice than the cpu by itself, as its the main function of the phone.

The phone has to keep polling the radio anyway, to keep track of all the cell towers in range and keep the IP alive. Coarse location (cell towers only) won't increase power usage (but WiFi and GPS definately will).

Rang up vodabong asking to cancel my contract, but got offered a 64gb on $49/month no handset repayments with infinite calls/text etc and 1.5gb data.

    DAMMIT. Should I?

I ordered 10 mins after pre-orders went online. A week later I finally got it delivered!

TNT is useless, but Apple isn't exactly innocent either in how they restrict what TNT can do! If I sign a waiver to say "leave it at my door" then obviously I take responsibility if it goes missing!

Surprised me somewhat too - I never bought this phone for its camera capabilities; but this is quite impressive.

I was going to have a pic taking session today, as I brought home a bottle of Don Julio tequila, to put up alongside a bottle of Patron; but as I got home I discovered my phone is dead, won't turn on, won't charge... :(

Well after the royal fuck-around at the hands of the Telstra pre-order (resulting in me copping a cancelled order for no apparent reason other than not answering my phone on it's first ring cycle!) and an 8 hour return trip to Sydney CBD, I now have a black 64gb 4S!

First call I notice an annoying static crackling sound through it, confirmed with second and third calls to different phones. Does anyone else have this problem or have I got a dud?

What's the go with Apple phones obtained through Telstra, can faulty ones be swapped/fixed by going into an Apple store or do I need to organise a repair/replace through Telstra?

Hell, I can't even take photo's that good on my DSLR!

It's a shame to think that the camera will mostly be used for grainy mirror shots in terrible lighting and shakey photos in nightclubs. Those are really impressive photos.

Both options are available to you, however I'd go direct to Apple as you'd get much faster resolution to your problem - they'd swap it on the spot instead of Telstra sending it to their diagnosis/fault verification team, then onto Apple, and then be the middleman again in with the replacement handset.

Anyone know if Siri will be available in the future for the iphone 4? i like the way it works but dont want to spend 900 dollars to upgrade a perfectly good phone.
