Carrum Downs had a few Street Fighters for $299 this afternoon
Looks like you can solder a USB header on and plug a keyboard in, instructions here https://imgur.com/gallery/9J77bht
So they just run MAME after all. Should be easy enough to load new roms on now.
More info here https://www.reddit.com/r/Arcade1Up/comments/a02870 - also has a fix for the SF2 audio issues
The USB pads that you solder on to is right at the edge of the board too so the guy who posted the Reddit thread is looking at a clip on or other option for people who don't want to solder
so the SF2 version isnt mame, so its less hackable than the earlier models that ran mame
I don't think it'll be long before someone is running MAME on it again, the original MAME config files are apparently still on the filesystem. Now that Linux is accessible and there is serial access to get data in/out.
Anyone know what the emulator is? Kawaks? Final Burn Alpha? Something else entirely?
The links above just say its a commercial one (could be proprietary)
I hope you're right flain
It's a commercial emulator called "MOO"
Stolen from the reddit thread:
Looking at the folder structure it looks like it's using mplayer to play avi files for the game select screens
hopefully have a Sydney trip in Jan, and fracking hopefully there will be some left at Aldi's in Jan... sigh...
Wish I could have sorted this for Christmas, what a crackin xmas pressies from Santa that would have been.
I honestly wonder if these guys ever played arcade machines back in the day.
Nostalgia's a hell of a drug.
Which one are you after, I saw quite a few at my local Aldi a couple of weeks back. I'm happy to check again and if they have what your after grab it for you.
cool, that might work.. 6 pack for your trouble too
id prefer the Galaga one , failing that the final fight one would you be cool with paypal? how much were they where you are? not too fussy actually, and hey, bloody nice of you to offer mate
Really torn up about maybe getting one of these.. Have a 5 year old and 3 year old. They love playing retro stuff on the tablets, a cab would be awesome, wife is less sure.
If you're handy on the tools, a bartop cabinet is great for kids, and easier to get WAF* for.

This.. I went to my sons graduation the other day, and in the games room they had a tabletop arcade, which quickly became the most important thing in the room to be near for the fathers. It just looked fun. I guess I will look into this.
Those video reviews are a worry, the sound issue is fixable at least but i hope my screen isnt as shoddy as the reviewers one was
I am always right
I'll drop in this morning and check what they have and let you know!
Edit: they only had the Rampage/Gauntlet/Joust/Defender 4in1 cabinets left @ $249. Got one in case you want it, otherwise I'll offload it elsewhere or maybe even use it.
