As per the 10 year rule.. All windows 7 discussions will have to take place in here in roughly a month from now. Jesus that's depressing.
"released to manufacturing on July 22, 2009. Generally available on October 22, 2009"

Also retro as of this year:
ALL Grand Theft Auto games BEFORE GTA 5
    Resident Evil 5
    Red Alert 3
MINECRAFT (If you count the playable, and purchasable Betas)
    Left 4 Dead 2
    Angry birds
ATI's Radeon 5000 series (The ATI name itself will be relegated to History next year)
    AMD's Socket AM3
All but 1 Nehalem Core i7
    The GeForce 300 series
And just as you were starting to feel old USB 3.0 is almost retro too.

    Gee thank you....

I just for my first system with usb3 native on the mother board....

Still using win 7. Win10 is shit.

I think n64 is retro, same with dreamcast and psx.

Not really counting the ps2 or newer as by then I was all PC.

People born in 2001 (when a lot of people joined here) can now become porn stars!

and if that stuff being 10 makes you feel old, here's some things that are 20 this year:
    Futurama started
    Family Guy started
Red Dwarf finished it's original run.
    Shenmue
    Beetle Adventure Racing!
    Super Smash Brothers
    Sonic Adventure
    Ape Escape
    Driver
    Grand theft Auto 2
    Donkey Kong 64
    Napster launched
    Slipknot released their Debut album
The first Coachella Music Festival in California.
    Weird Al's Running with Scissors
    F-F-F-F-F-Freestyler.
    Star Wars: The Phantom Menace
    The Matrix
    Office Space
    Austin Powers
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut.

Now I'm sure a lot of people are feeling old.

    But one more hit:
The gameboy is 30 this year.

We've been having the discussion of the newer windows (and indeed all things) being shit since windows (all things) existed.
In 5-10 years from now, you'll be on windows 12 and grumbling that windows 13 is shit!

People just have to accept that windows 7 is as useless to modern computing as windows XP or 98 are.
Still useful, hell Windows 95 still functions as a word processor, but yeah, 7 is totally retro in a few months, time to upgrade again!

iPhone 3GS is retro, and next year, the 4 will be retro as well.
3 more years and my phone is retro too.

It's a scary thought, and a lot of us, myself included, were with OCAU for years under the old forums prior to 2001 too.

Another fun fact - last year, the last of all the kids born in the 20th Century finished Year 12 of high school. This year the first kids born in the 21st Century will do the same.

No, this is the RETRO section.. software can still be retro.. like DOS, or windows 3.1 or Windows 95, or in a month from now, Windows 7.
Just cause people like it, doesn't make it any newer.

I think the standard, and indeed very definition of retro is literally just old junk.
Just cause it's retro doesn't make it good... only expensive to collect!

I'm old enough to remember everyone complaining about literally every version of Windows ever. (Like, right back to Windows 1.0)

Windows 10 complaints aren't new. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

One man's trash is another man's obsessively collected and catalogued hobby.

Yep. :lol:I'm not quite that old, but yes, for my entire life people have been bitching about the newer version of windows compared to the old one.

That's a contention for a sig worthy quote right there.

There was almost rioting in the steets about the massive change from 3.1 to 95. And then the "unnecessary, bloated bling" of 2K to XP.

Funny how, with the passing of time, all those complaints are forgotten. :)

That's the real wheel.. All these modern wheels are unnecessary, bloated, and needlessly over engineered!

A Linux wheel would be a blueprint for a wheel you would need to make yourself.

It would be ugly, 80% of people wouldn't be smart enough to make it or use it, but those that did would have a wheel that turned 20% faster than any commercially made wheel and never need servicing.

In the words of me ex-CEO: "Linux is user friendly. It's just choosey about who its friends are."

I don't hear many BSOD jokes these days from smug linux desktop users so i guess Microsoft has at least done some things right :)

How can anyone not like these new, emoji-driven crash screens? I mean, look at the little sad face. Awww.... It almost makes me forget that I'm pissed off my third rate operating system crashed again.
