I'm so glad I got out of the astro game when I did otherwise this would be me in 5 years :Paranoid:

Looks great, the black of the EQ8 is so much more sex than the white EQ6. I was reading the spec sheet... 25kgs + 30kgs for the tripod  Good thing you've got a permanent setup, I'd hate to be lugging that around in the back of my Hyundai Coupe like I did the EQ6

After many months of research and selling nearly everything that is near and dear to me, I finally drove to Sydney today to pick up a shiny new GSO RC12 inch Truss telescope. Let the steep learning curve begin!

Based on what I see Baz do, I am selling my little Tasco telescope and will start saving up for a decent toy.

Oh and white and 2 Baz :):)

    Looks great!
I can imagine it would have set you back a fair bit then....
How does it compare to your old one so far?

Not sure yet. I haven't photographed through it yet. Still got heaps of fitting, aligning, collomating etc to go before I even begin to work out the new guide-camera and stuff.

    Could be weeks yet.

    Baz.

    Thanks guys. Lovin' your support!

Here's my first go at planetary photography through the new scope. I still have to multiply the focal length out to around six metres to get the best image scale, but here is is at nearly two and a half metre focal length.

Here you see Jupiter and a couple of it's moons. Ganymede on the right is casting a shadow on the surface atmosphere of the Jovian giant.
