I feel like large studios are out of ideas. This could be any AC, Witcher, Mordor game, just reskinned with a viking theme. Same old same old.

Reviews are out.. Mostly good 8/10+

ACG said wait for sale though.

Main complaints seem to be bugs & combat bit meh until 15+ hours into it.

I'll wait a while for patches and my pile of shame is borderline criminal.

Ran the benchmark it averaged 60 at 4K but watching it run there were quite a few hitches. Well off to bed, playthrough will begin after work tomorrow ;)

have read around and apparently it runs like crap and is using an outdated shit engine? i dunno if its true though. people with 2060 supers are getting 40fps on medium settings, if thats the case then ugh...i will be "trying" the game before buying it if you know what i mean.

Wonder how ultra compares to xbox series X as that can do 4k 60fps no worries and it has only has equiv TFLOPS of a 2080.

    Such a shit engine.

Game looks pretty good on streams, better than Odyssey. Simply as an good Viking RPG with base building and huge world to explore, varied combat and in-depth skill system.
They could even dump all the AC parts entirely really....

Sums up Assassins Creed for a long time. AC Revelations was the last proper game with Black Flag being the last good hybrid game before it was completely ruined.

Strangely the controls feel a lot more clunky than Odyssey in Valhalla. No idea why they needed to fiddle with them at all. I've spent some time playing Valhalla and gone back to the Atlantis DLC I was in the midst of finishing, the control response was that distracting.

lol time for an update. 67 hours in probably another 100 to go. This far in I'm still enjoying just looking at the game running around the map, love the sun creeping over hills, so nice. There has been a step back from the instant gratification of Odyssey, no more diving off cliffs for ground slams, no more teleporting instakills. The less upbeat story makes for a change of pace but I'm missing the silliness of the previous game as well, there is fun to be had in some of the side quests at least. For those who haven't played Odyssey and are on the fence I'd say give that one a go first being nice and cheap ;)
