Well let's face it, they couldn't be any worse than Creative with driver releases.

"Drives up to 600ohms headphones with less than 100dB distortion, the built-in headphone amp supports every available headphone in the market with exceptional audio quality."

Every headphone in the market without additional amplification?
So they're saying it'd be able to drive headphones like the AKG 701 directly?

Certainly says all the right audiophile things. I guess it all depends on how they price the card. If it's over $250 - an external dac/amp would be a better option because there are a number of inherent advantages (clean power supply etc).

This page says those headphones only have an impedance of 62ohms. In comparison the Sennheiser 650HD have an impedance of 300ohms, and the high end Beyerdynamic's have an impedance of 250ohms.

I'd say this would cater for anyone but the most die hard audiophile with bottomless pockets. XD

I think it's really great that ASUS have been innovating on the soundcard front, something that people keep saying is dead and Creative was probably beginning to believe themselves.

p.s. why the hell has Fatal1ty got into so many product names all of a sudden? D:

I still don't know what sound card to get =\

I will most likely be purchasing a DT880 and a cheap amp... OR an AD900 (Any comments on those either?)

I need it for gaming (lots of gaming, mainly source so need great 3d) and LOTS (LOTS!!!!) of music, pretty much always FLAC quality.

The AD900 will definitely suit you then. Just try and audition them properly if you can to make a final decision. The AD series are easy to drive and can be run directly from the sound card.

Games with EAX, x-fi is a must, dont buy into emulation, it doesnt even compare.

I stand by my X-Fi titanium champ, I had the Asus stuff, while its good for the price, still doesnt come close in quality of sound.

My opinion is based on what I hear, but I have expensive equipment too

    Auzentech has my vote

I know I know Auzentech's X-Fi Prelude is based on the Creative chipset but with one major difference; drivers. Auzentech have been exceptional in releasing stable drivers regularly. Unlike some companies they seem to focus on stability and gradual feature implementation. They are also open to any known bugs.

The latest round of DTS interactive drivers which round-out all the features I care for are flawlessly good, and I haven't had any issues on Vista x64.

I think ur confusing quality of sound for quality of EAX. The creative shit has nothing on even the humble DX. I went from an extreme music to a DX.
