I'm in a slight (nay, intense) panic. Someone just toldme

" Do not buy an asus z series motherboard for the new sky lake chips and pair it with a Samsung m.2 ssd, they are known to have problems working together."

I have done exactly that, with a Asus Z170I Pro Gaming LGA 1151 Mini ITX and 512Gb nvme m.2 drive.

    Is this true?
    Anyone else had this problem?

    Is there a solution?

    What should I do ?!

No idea if its the Samsung PRO only (or any NVME), but I'm running an EVO M.2 and it installed windows fine via an official windows usb (all drives plugged in, let me select which drive I wanted the OS to install to). I had to get into BIOS and set it to boot M.2 as I had another sata SSD and HDD and by default the selected drive had no O.S. No issues at all after this. Asus Z170-AR and Samsung 850 EVO M.2 SSD

Does that m.2 instal reduce the number of SATA devices available to you.
I don't THINK that's the case with nvme but I'm really not sure now)

OK well that's josh1990 and Rattz (other thread) who report no issues.
    Hopefully that's the case.

I had all sorts of issues around September last year getting it to work with my combo. Later BIOS upgrades fixed those issues. You should have a later revision board with a more mature BIOS and if not, upgrade before you do the OS install.
