Are there any Atari Lynx owners here? I know that its 8/16-bit status is debatable, but couldn't find a more appropriate thread to post in. :)

I don't have one, I did have an ex mate try to sell me one in the 90's but I wasn't interested. However, from what I read it's a shame the architecture didn't actually make it's way into the Atari 8bit machines as it sounds quite impressive.

Ive got a lynx from way back. But haven't seen it in yonks, it's in the same draw as my game gear.

Any idea about the 130xe? The 600/800's are going up through the roof atm. They were around 80 bucks last year.. now, no change from 200 plus post...

The 130XE's a good machine. The only problem is chips may not be socketed, making upgrades harder and the keyboard is a little mushy.

this was a big Atari problem for quite some time.

If you want the best keyboards they live on the 800 and the XL series.

If you want to fix the issue on an ST, XE, etc then you need to go here.

yes it's meant to look like that, yes everyone complains and no they will not change.

    Ah, Brad at Best Electronics...

While I've never personally dealt with him, I've heard some odd stories from those that have. If he doesn't like you than it's "No soup for you!".

It was dented and really bugged me. The new one's all shiny, sometimes I just stop and admire it - Then realize I don't have my glasses on, get my glasses and admire it some more.

One will come up eventually. I was lucky, it was listed with a buy it now price that was reasonable and the seller dropped the price some more.

It's been quite a few years since I've brought anything from him but I never had any problems, http://www.myatari.com/ however is a different story. Around about the same time I tried to purchase an Atari CRT from him and he basically couldn't be bothered selling it as it was all too hard to get the monitor down from the rack it was on. Despite my many emails back and forth assuring him I would buy it so it wasn't a waste of his time I eventually gave up.

Interesting bunch of people these old Atari folk.

They're a bunch of egotistical buffoons is what they are. I've never seen a retro community like it.

    EDIT:

This is a result of clicking the 8 bit machines link on the My Atari web page, lol!

Here's something for a bit of fun. I'm using ICE-T to telnet into the 1541 UII+ on the C64 to control it remotely! Oh, the users on Atari Age wouldn't like that...Hiss.

BTW, I have a spare 600XL reproduction badge, which I actually prefer to the factory badge. If anyone wants one PM me and I'll send it for the cost of postage.

It was, the tech has been partially adopted for this new title.

I've downloaded and played it. It's surprisingly smooth, but I admit I'm finding the chunky graphics a little hard to discern and have to rely on the map a lot - Essentially, it's almost what the world looks like when I cant find my glasses!

Lol thx mate, will see first.. just wondering.. obviously this is an NTSC 600XL, but upgraded vid and ram to 800XL spec.. , Is NTSC something that i should be avoiding in these things? will prob run RGB mod of some kind anyways, but just with software compatibility wise?

Being NTSC, there's going to be less games available as there's just not enough CPU cycles to cover a 60Hz refresh. The other problem is that the NTSC 600XL doesn't come with a monitor port, so it's RF only until you get a Sophia 2 for DVI output.

Two reason's I searched so hard for a PAL machine.

EDIT: You say video and ram has been upgraded? In what way?
