    Reminder: This is a K10 (Phenom) based dual-core CPU. Not K8.
    http://en.expreview.com/2008/09/23/amds-best-dual-core-ever-athlon-6500-kuma-review/

    The gist:

    Pros
    * Overall, performs better than K8 series in clock for clock comparison (unsurprising)
    * Overclocks well. (2.3Ghz (default) to about 3.3Ghz+)

    Cons
    * Not as power efficient as the K8 series. (20W more in clock for clock comparison)

    Misc
    * Note how they dropped the X2 label. Its apparently Athlon 6500.
    * There will be three versions:
    => 6500 = 2.3GHz (What's being reviewed)
    => 6400 = 2.2GHz
    => 6300 = 2.1GHz

    Feel free to comment...

    hmm..that doesnt look to bad at all..3.3ghz on stock cooler as well. Decent watercooling could increase that...

    Seems like a pointless product.:upset:

    It doesn't look like AMD will have a compelling product until possibly Deneb, but probably Bulldozer.

    i think this is good news :)

    i like the temperature sensor.
    Will be interesting to see what temps it runs at and how accurate it is.

    also, very impressed with the MPEG encoding test.

    Unimpressed at the stock clocks. But I'm very impressed at IPC rate!!

    Wonder how it compares to a similar clocked C2D?

    Well I held off mentioning that I think Bulldozer will never see the light of day as AMD goes into bankruptcy/Chapter 11/gets taken over and have God knows what kind of re-organisation.

    newsflash.. this isn't a new 'flagship' CPU, just another use for Agena cores..

    not much space for it above ~100 bucks :cool:

    This would be great if it was priced below the X3's...

    That's the only place it really can go though, no one would buy it otherwise...

    I'm curious to see if AMD will be releasing these at higher frequencies in the future and how they'd go against the equivalent Core2Duo..

    Masochistic :wired:

    Also should be great for HTPC work in AMD 780G boards :thumbup:

    Not far off Conroe per clock, still a bit behind Wolfdale obviously.

    I would have liked to see higher clocks, at 2.3GHz stock its destined to be another budget X2. AMD need to respond with better/faster products, this isn't what the doc ordered, though as mAJORD pointed out its a way of salvaging Agena dies with multiple faulty cores.

    actually no...one of the things you want to look for is low power consumption and heat. thats why the BE2300/2350/2400 and X2 4050e/4450e/4850e are so good for them...45W TDP opposed to 95W TDP in these dual cores.

    Ooh it isn't that far off the X2 6000+.. I wonder what the performance is like at 3GHz compared to the X2 6000.
    If it's good I may get myself one of these to get a little bit more life out of my processer before I go quad. Especially if the price is right.
