drivers http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx release notes https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2.ati.com/gamesite/Catalyst_86_release_notes.html just a tiuch of the notes the fixes are quite large so looks like a good release
You can also just download it over the existing CCC, no need to uninstall. Has new skin too. The guys at Rage3D are very excited about this one.
Performance of nvidia cards seems pretty good these days and got a little tired of having to download lots of driver sets. I had 64bit and 32bit Vista and XP going. So it starts to starts to mount up after a while.
Because the "gains are very nice!"? Probably just as pointless. But maybe ATi will see the consumer sentiment and start up with some better cards. I like ATi cards, always have.
I started testing these last night and on my HD 3870 i got no performance increase so far, will try X2 later and 3650
I have done a little testing in COD4, with XP Pro and the x2. I am going back to 8.2. Didn't work for me. Better than 8.3> but no where near as good as 8.2. 8.9 will be sweet.
well mine went up in 3dtoss 06 with high detail no AA 180 points have not had a chance to look further yet but i will plus it seems to be geared more at fuxing crossfire which i don't have yet(4850 x 2 thanks) but someone might(also the fact that these are released on the launch of the 4850 is no coincidence.
i'm running two HD3870s in crossfirex on the 8.2s. is there any news of this release being compatable, so to speak, with my setup? myself and others with this config have had issues with the crossfire in games like COD4 and crysis.
try ut3 i get some flaky results especialy with AA on some screen corruption (not often but does happen where did not in earlier releases) better fps in benches both bot and flyby better fps ingame normal play same fps with AA on...read half the fps looks wise though it does seem to have better iq but that could just be me.
If you have Vista 8.6 should work for you great. If you have XP then I would stay with 8.2. The good news is the ATi driver team are aware of the problems with crossfire and crossfireX and XP and very close to having them sorted out.
8.2 it is, good to know i'm not alone. thanks mate. only problem at the moment is that if i try to OC with ATiTool or run the folding@home GPU client the screen locks. i can use the mouse for a few seconds while everything is locked visually, then i have to hard boot. but games run sweetly, its the wierdest thing.
