    Yield issues at TSMC again....

Quite possibly a November release for the 6 series, which most likely means that the cards won't be available in any real quantity until mid/end December.

Most new OCZ ssd's are very good and very reliable. Some of the old vertex models were a bit iffy. However vertex 2 models are great, and firmware updates don't result in loss of data.

Yay it looks like the 6800 series will be launched first then :D although it does seem sus that there is supply issues at tsmc for 40nm process.

Perhaps the new cards were going to dominate the market too much so they are pulling a supply issue to justify a higher price on launch until the 5000 series bleed off?

Hmm that wasn't what I was hoping to hear. The news I heard was that yields are great and Stock should be plenty full...

Maybe the news aren't real? Nvidia doesn't seem to have issues with yield (GTX 450s and 460s are everywhere) so I don't see how ATI should have issues considering their head start with 40nm...

Oh well 2 weeks to wait and then I can make a decision. My budget is ~ 200 bucks.

    Hehe no worries...

    I got basically 3 options:

    - Get a 5770 and some other bits
    - Get a GTX460 768
    - Get a 6750 if it sells for around 200

Would prefer ATI/AMD as my CPU and Chipset are also AMD. I like having a "all Red" solution. But technically the Nvidia card shouldn't give me issues I guess...

Remember that AMD aren't making any statements - this is leaked news, that funnily enough people believe over leaked news of performance :)

I had the regional sales manager for Sapphire in my store yesterday and took the opportunity to ask him some questions. I asked him if he knew about launches, prices, etc.

He said even Sapphire do not know pricing, or exact launch days of the products in question (apart from what we read online) as AMD are keeping is close to their chest so NVIDIA don't have anything to jump on.

So, with that in mind from the HORSES MOUTH - I would either expect:

the news to be true? low yields on something that both AMD and NVIDIA have good yields on now? Seems pretty stupid if you ask me........

Or, it's to throw people off course?

Or it's just more 'leaked' news - fact or fiction, up to the reader.

Noticed the image making the rounds, unfortunately only half the card was actually pictured, the bottom half was just photoshopped/mirrored. So it's really unknown if its just a black block :(

Another scenario could be, NVIDIA have ordered a tonne of lower end GF106 and 108 cores, so that TMSC are busy making 80k a month of those, leaving AMD without much wafer wiggle room left.

NVIDIA could get rid of the cards - to the low end market, all while holding off AMD's brick wall of cards that will hit them. No matter the delay, unless NVIDIA have something serious to counter (and not just a 465 or 475) it will be useless.

I'd like to see NVIDIA hit the top end again, but I think they see that as useless - unless they could REALLY increase performance, without hurting the power consumption again, where the 465/475's would sell much more favourably than a re-spun 480.

There's also a version with 897mb RAM that can power three displays but hits 200 degrees on load and has higher memory bandwidth. For clarity, it's called the GTX 260. For some reason.

How so? Your system is quite similar to mine. I would have thought that my system could handle such a card.

I am using an antique for the moment, so I may upgrade when the 6000 series comes out.
