The latest movie from James Cameron?

A game optimised to be watched entirely in 3D, if you've got the hardware?

    Nope.

That's exactly what it is, just a game to be watched. Much like Crysis.

Avatar: The last airbender is a kids show. It's having a cinematic release called The Last Airbender, directed by M Night Shyamalan.
James Cameron's Avatar is the latest big budget explosions and aliens film to make a billion dollars and probably be rubbish. The game has had it's pants hyped off wanking up it's 3d graphics so I'm keen to see if it's any good or if it's just another crappy movie game.

    Cheers OP.

    Bloody hell.

This is Avatar, the game of the Cameron film - which, if you've seen the new theatrical trailer, actually looks pretty good.

Can't doubt the guy's credentials anyway.

Word is, the graphics of the game are nothing short of spectacular.

Yeah, it is. Dude from the movie was on Rove the other night, looks alright.

Aliens, Terminator, Titanic... Guy knows how to make a movie.

Just tried the demo, seems very consolish, not bad but nothing special. Glad they released a demo first. Will wait till release and then see what reviews are like because atm after playing that I'm not convinced it won't just be another generic linear persuit.

Which the guy couldn't shut the fuck up about during E3. Seriously, he was on for 20mins talking about absolute nothing. I swear, he made half his speech up on the floor.

That being said, I guess I'll see what his jibbering on was all about

I had a play through the demo last night. The graphics are quite nice, but the lack of interaction between the plants and the player (like in Crysis) just doesn't look or feel quite right now.

It seems quite buggy, I had a few Na'vi just float up to me, a few just stopped moving and stood still. The AI seems a bit rubbish too, they're attacks were really random and basically just charged you. They didn't duck or move away when shooting at them.

All in all i'm a bit disappointed, there's been a fair bit of hype (from JC himself who apparently oversaw the entire development).

Oh well, just another movie tie-in to add to the heap of mediocre games.

Did you find out what all his jibbering was about? Overhyped blockbuster cash in rubbish or actually an impressive game?

Yep, it's DX10. AFAIK it uses the Dunia engine from FarCry 2. You can tell when you set the vegetation on fire with the flamethrower.

I've had the demo download paused for a week, at 30mb. I just realized it's 1.6gb. I think I'll just look at some youtube videos instead.
