But the DOS version had General Midi music. Better then the current windows version
Quake III Arena.
It still rocks
Not including various Elmo n' Dora titles, currently installed:
BF2 & Mods
Street Rod I and II
Mech Warrior I and II
Caesar III for me. Will get back into the Medieval: Total Wars at some point too. Also want to get back into the Star Wars games I have (XW, TF, Rebellian, XvT and Alliance). Plus I'm yet to install some Robin Hood game of my sisters. Oh, and I finish Ghost Recon from time to time, and Rainbow 6: RS and RS:3. Hahaha... that list got big quick.
But I don't have a modern machine. Gee... just realised it's almost 5 years old!
And I never installed Baldurs Gate II but I finished the first one. Bought them when I had time off work for a knee reconstruction and loved the first one, just didn't play the second.
just played AOM through, got a few hours into deus ex
now looking for something with more
redav, BGII was the best
Leisure Suit Larry (various)
Monkey Island (various)
Space Quest (various)
King's Quest (various)
BGII was superb. I still fire it up on my new box every so often (got BG1 and TotSC running inside BGII's engine, so I've only got the one install).
Homeworld and Cataclysm also installed and playable... They don't like Vista and newer GPU's I find though, so they're a little crash happy at times.
Also have Transport Tycoon Deluxe on here, though I'm running the more recent open source version, since it's a solid update on the original.
Love the old stuff...
I actually downloaded that thing that let you run BG in BGII but never got arould to trying it. One day. Only started to play TotSC once but didn't finish it. Obviously haven't tried the expansion for BGII either. Another one day
For me it would have to be Deus Ex and Transport Tycoon (OpenTTD).
Can't be forgetting Freelancer now.
Actually, one game I love is Gunship 2000 but I don't know if it runs under XP. I used to play it on my parents machine. It's a Win98 box. I'll upgrade mine and flick it to them. Might have to grab it back to play GS2000
I still fire up Battlefield 1942 now and then, looks decent with custom AA settings. Still pretty fun blasting someone in the face with a Panzershreck. Pity many people don't play it as much. Used to have some insane 64 player matches.
Beatmania IIDX is a fairly old game that I actively play now and then too.
Raptor Call of the Shadows, ahh, instant classic. I remember playing that when I was about 7 years old on my 20MHz 386 that I built. Those were the days.
Railroads! and SimCity4:Rush Hour - old but have had no real sequels since.
oh, and Death Rally - running though DosBox!
About to fire up Baldurs Gate II again.
I too am a huge Dune fan. I used to play dune 2000 every day it rocked, they really need a new DUNE release I say!
Actually Iwould love to go back and play half life2 now with the 295, I downloaded The Lost Coast and ran the video stress test at 1900 x 1200 with everything maxed out and still got over 200 fps.....
I remember when I used to play half life 2 on my Inspiron lappy with a 7900gs 256mg video card and it huffed and puffed when I tried to run Lost Coast....
The Ur-Quan Masters
EA Cricket 96
Terminator Future Shock
What are you playing it on? I don't think I have tried it on my current machine. Actually, I remember trying to install Win98 on my current machine and it wouldn't install or something like that. Not a problem but would have been nice to play older games that worked on that OS on a far better spec machine than was available at the time.
Q2DM1 = Win. Tokeys towers was another insane ffa map close to my heart. What username you used to play under?
Anyone remember Multiplay TEN Think that was back in 1996-1997.
