I've got an older HDD that has been making strange 'clicky' noises, so i got crystal disk info to check it's health, but that says it's ok.. I had issues with the PC not being able to access the HDD etc and generally locking up as well.. I tried it on another SATA port on the same onboard controller, did the same thing.. Tried it on another port on another onboard controller, and so far so good... (fluke) But my question is, how do i actually check if it's the HDD that's faulty, or the controller? Don't want to trust the HDD if it's possibly dieing, but i don't want to just throw it away if it's good. But if it's the mobo... will need to replace i guess? I also have another HDD that i've removed from a WD USB enclosure as the enclosure seems to have died.. I've now got it connected to the PC via a USB-SATA adapter. That shows me this: could that be due to the enclosure dieing? Is it an issue?
