I tried moving some copy protected save games last night, but they didn't appear on the new consoles XMB. Anyone know if it's been done and can link me? (So I can see if I'm doing it right)

Can someone advise me if these revelations mean that I can read a hard drive from a different PS3?

No. That's encrypted to a motherboard. I've yet to see any work on fixing this yet.

They've only just got to the stage where you can do everything a jailbreak dongle does. Any major changes to the system like PS2 emulation is a long, long way off.

Rebuilding the database from the recovery method made all the saves appear in the XMB.

Piracy? Please say it ain't so. Worst part about this whole cfw scene at the moment. The idiots who think they should have games they don't own
    Sigh

Ive backed up the games i own, so as to preserve both the disc + reader. No piracy, but still using a backup manager

Still not legal but I can see the point in that (hate having to swap disks!)

It's not the swapping disks part but the laser burn out part that is my concern.

Laser death is the most common fault I've had in all of my old consoles. I'm happy to swap disks as an anti-piracy measure, but once it's confirmed the disk is legitimate, I want my console reading from the hard disk as much as possible.

I like the XBox 360's approach, where all games can be installed to disk. I wish the PS3 would follow suit, and not leave it up to the developer/publisher to add it on at a software level. Of the two dozen PS3 games I have, I think only 3 or 4 offer the ability to install to hard disk (which I've done for all of them that support it).

Would it be against the rules for someone to link me to the custom firmware and a tutorial on backing up my games on a computer and transfering them to the PS3 HDD?
