Question: it says it needs Capsule to download, but do they also email you an activation key for Uplay? I'd much rather download from Uplay than the godawful Capsule.

And just a note: the coupon doesn't work on the above (obviously) since it's already discounted, but it DOES work on the Deluxe Edition ($69.99 --> $52.50) and probably season pass too.

Run Uplay (install if you don't have it). Click the "cog" icon. Select "Activate Product" follow prompts.

You'll then get the game's image on your "Games" tab. Click it and you'll have the option to download and install.

Those coupons are hit and miss when it comes to titles they work with. Best to try them on everything. BTW it also works on Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag Deluxe Edition + Season Pass for (US$67.49)

Yup but to clarify I haven't bought it yet - I wanted to make sure you can get a Uplay code without using Capsule. I once bought something from somewhere else (that I've forgotten) that didn't give you the activation codes until you started downloading via their client. Ridiculous!

EDIT: Yeah, you can get the Uplay code from GMG website without resorting to Capsule.

I'm assuming Steam will have a Black Friday sale, yes? This is why their specials have been a bit lame lately?

they do a thanks giving one usually... they don't usually call it a black friday sale... but don't expect anything spectacular... if you've been unhappy with previous sales i'd expect to continue that lol

Yep. Haven't bought a single thing from GMG since they also got the AUS tax. I know it wasn't necessarily their fault for it but their pricing isn't good enough for me any more. Shame because I used to buy quite a lot from them

The thing that really annoys me is that they banged on how good they are with their 30% off for life for ANZ copies, yet, that voucher doesn't work on anything anymore (well, the 10 titles that I tried)..

Funny how they've forgotten about us not even 10 months later..

It has to specifically state ANZ in the product name. For example, I just loaded up XCOM: Enemy Within and the voucher works fine.

Such a shame, they really seemed to be the best source for games for a while. Im in the same boat as others, havent bought anything from them in ages.

GMG are still the best for pre-orders. If you're looking for deals on older games, they've slipped, but 25% off coupons for pretty much any pre-order is still unmatched.

Quick heads up guys: steam spring sale has started today! Chris will no doubt bring the details, but a few standouts to me are:
66% off Rogue Legacy and Outlast
    50% prison architect
    75% off skyrim and antechamber

Also today is the day Battlefield 4 is $25 for a few hours at amazon, starting at like 11:10am as per this post http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/124496

    Happy money spending all :)
