Before and After - Creative edit - Dolomites, Italy

Hi guys,

This shot will not be to everyone's taste.

I'm trying my hand at creative edits in PS to make more "art" than landscapes.

What do you think? I can already think of a few improvements to make for next time.

I don't mind it.. However, the area on the left seems like a vastly different brightness to the area on the right almost like you went overboard with dodging on the left and burning on the right..

 

When I saw the first image I thought it was a pretty good baseline to work off...until I realised it was the end result. I actually really like it. I do agree though that the right hand side is a little dark.

 

Colours seem off to me.. are you calibrated?

Might just be personal taste though

I think the original lends itself to a B&W treatment personally.

I was aiming to create an image that was taken during a spectacular sunrise, hence the different darkness/lightnesses. I'll try a less contrasty one next time.

The major thing I picked up that I would do differently is the "sunrise" on the side of the image that had the lighter tones on the buildings lol, at the moment I put the "sunrise" on the left and the right side of all buildings is lighter.

I dont mind it. I would drop the exposure and increase the shadows on the cliffs/rocks.
