last year i was in melbourne for work, i was propper sick, but had to work as i was the only person who could do what i do and you cant stop a precursor "sherpa" meeting to the G20 summit.

So i was working 12 hour days, feeling completely horrible, i was getting headaches, swollen joins , pain in muscles etc ( i had infected airways, throat, sinus and left ear).

So one night we ate at this little burger joint in the city, caboose canteen. I don't know if it was the aggregate effects of massive workload and horrible sickness, but it was the best burger i have ever eaten, and my work mate agreed. Every bite was pain filled joy. I dont even remember the taste now, i just remember the ecstasy of it all..........

It's not a Melbourne thing, but this is the best burger thread.

Went to FergBurger in NZ last week; massive disappointment.

Went to Burger Lounge in Eltham again.

Getting better although I wish someone would teach them not to put the chips into oil that's the incorrect temp. Some of them we're really oily and they use frozen chips *sigh*

Really don't get the laziness of these places: Premium prices, frozen chip.

Went to Mr Scruffs yesterday in Collingwood, really good burger, a bit similar to huxtaburger but a whole lot better in both size and cheesy goodness.

Went to Merrywell last night, after hearing good things about it. Also, they've plastered the place in "best burger of 2012 by Burger Adventure" or whatever it said... a very bad burger. Meat was over cooked, the "bun" looked like the end pieces you get in a loaf of bread. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

Merrywell is a very very average burger place. There are at least 20 better options above and below the CBD. THey just smash them out and don't really care about quality. The only reason i can assume the won burger of the year from whoever gave them that is the fact they are in crown and are loaded.

We tend to eat dinner early because of kids - when the shops are quieter, which means less stuff on the grills.. we haven't had a dry burger from either Fat Bobs (went there last night) OR burger boss

Heh, found a mr burger right near where I work on lt Bourke St and the operations seem a bit like the hipster cafes - not fast or efficient, but makes a bloody good product!

Hadn't actually been to the mister before, but went with a mr hot no cheese and some chips

Pretty decent burger with some nice heat - juicy as anything, really great texture from the meat and buns (aware of the risk of another sig from tman, but worth it for the burger)

chips were pretty decent also, like a good fish and chip shop sort of thing. Will be returning...

So today I had a fatty day.

For lunch I was in Brighton, so I had a royal brothers burger - it was ugly as sin, but tasted amazing as always.

    8.5/10

And for dinner I picked up some Burger Boss on the way home, and decided to try the Pulled Pork burger...

    It really is not good.

The bun was burnt, the pork was dry - the iceberg lettuce overpowered all the other flavours...
It would have been 10x better if when they reheated the pork on the grill if they poured some gravy on it. Also, they need to make coleslaw - it's the way it's meant to be.

    2/10

Must be pretty tasteless if iceberg lettuce overpowered everything else!

pretty much! I think because the pork was so dry the moist coolness of the iceberg took over
