It is NOT --- HOTMAIL, YAHOO, EXCITE, etc -- because these are thousands of kilometres away from Australia.

Using a local email provider supplied by my ISP is not really good either. I might change ISP, or because the local ISP is not conforming to International email standards, it is very limited, crshes, and has primitive email-services.

The usual free email services have ADVERTISEMENTS, JUNK EMAIL, ... but that is the price we pay. I don't mind. But now WWW.START.COM.AU is giving me too much junk.

    Is there any alternative?

Well you could always get your own domain name, not exactly free but it does have benefits.

You can move it to any isp as your situation changes and retain your email address.

You can give your freinds a email address.

    No ads.

Maybe you can get together with a few people and share the cost.

I've been using the ZZN Network where you can make your own sub network and do what you like with your email and still use pop (ie test@test.zzn.com).

It doesn't go down that often. I have been using it for about 2 years I think

Most of the time you bring spam upon yourself. Make sure you never ever ask to be taken off a mailing list that is just spam (ie sent unsolicited by you). Aslo be careful when you sign up to stuff. Often if you sign up to receieve one thing, groups affiliated with them start spamming you as well.

If you keep your email address a secret to most sources on the net, you shouldn't get much spam.
