I havent upgraded my GPU for quite some time.
What is the best GPU for gaming at the $500 or below mark. Brand new or 2nd hand.
Ive had a look at ebay and what not but im unsure of what a good 2nd hand price is these days

How do i delete this, i just found the what/where post

Hang on... i cant even post in that section...

I would suggest a 2nd hand 1070ti. Around $400 is a fair price atm. Since the recent price hikes I don't think there is much value to be had brand new.

You will find 1080's for $500 if you keep eye out on FS forums (once gotten access) it takes 3 months I think.

it just helps to stop people coming on here, trading and then never contributing or creating multiple accounts purely just to try and trade if sales go bad. You can always try Facebook and Gumtree but they generally command higher prices then here and aren't normally as willing to negotiate.

what resolution are you gaming at? if you can stretch the budget you can look a brand new 2060 or 1660 ti/super which is pushing into the overkill range for 1080p

NEW 1660TI is about $520, -7% perf compared to 1070.

Or as per other post on here second hand 1070Ti you can get sub $500. Best bang for buck!

Also Ebay while good for many things is LUDICROUS for GPU prices, steer clear!

Some ebay sellers can be good when there is a 10-20% sale on, otherwise I'd have to agree.

yep. During the 15 or 20% off deals, there's often at least 1 or 2 sellers not gouging to hell, and you can score a final price after discount cheaper than anything on staticice

To answer OP question - It's 5600XT or RTX 2060 at the $500 mark (below and above respectivly).

[far] below that, the 1660 super is excellent value @ ~400..

Not sure why anyone would buy a 1660ti when they're basically the same price as a 2060 but slower?

Nor a used 1080 for $500, when a 5600XT and 2060 are both as fast or faster for less to only slightly more dosh?

Used 1070Ti,1080 or 2060 would be your best bet, I would personally get the 2060 because you will not get a card that is 'exercised'.

Bad time to buy GPU or other PC components for that matter due to current situation(low AU$, higher demands, logistic issues) but I still wouldn't pay $500 for 1070Ti.. I would at least want 1080(gg model) or pref 2060 for $500.
I'd say 1070Ti(gg model) is worth ~$400-$420 but only cos current situation.

All the 1080Ti's on sales section has been total rip off lately.. inc premium model imo.

Yes, although the performance might be in the same league as a RTX 2070 Super or better, you are still investing close to $1k on a piece of equipment that has zero warranty. If that 1080ti dies then you have no recourse whatsoever. I'd rather spend the cash on a 5700XT and live with slightly less performance.

lol 1070Ti for $550 is total rip off.. I bought one here for ~$360 late last year and it was gg model(top of the range Asus with long warranty left, box/receipt etc).
Also Sankari bought similar for $420 inc postage couple of days ago. https://forums.overclockers.com.au/threads/rtx-2060.1281624/

    Haha...scored!

I took a punt on the $ and bought a 5700 xt. 3 days later it went up by $100.
I was going to wait for rdna2 but I think pricing is going to be out of control for at least a year.
