Forgive me if such a thread already exists, but is the Grizzly Conductonaut extreme liquid metal still the benchmark for liquid metal TIM's on the market today?

Anything else on the market within 2-5% of the thermal performance from the Conductonaut but bit more competitively priced?

Only asking as I need more than the standard volume packages from Grizzly without spending too much.

Look into PTM7950 phase change pads, compare to liquid metal temps :)

Recommend a place to buy PTM7950? apparently there are fakes out there.

Just checked the prices for a roll. Not cheap. Can this be used as a replacement for normal thermal putty/pads i.e. VRM and DRAM modules? Doesn't look like its electricially conductive (based off brief look at the tech sheet).

I'm not sure on VRM or RAM use.

It's on the 6900XT I'm using currently and temps are great.

Hmm interesting. Will look into it later in my spare time.

On other hand, is the Conductonaut still the benchmark for liquid metal TIM?

I just bought 2 syringes of Coolaboratory liquid extreme to try which seems to be the runner up to the Conductonaut (and I got it for lot less what Scorptec currently has the Grizzly for).

Just tried PTM(copy?) off Amazon and shaved about 4C off my Artic MX 6 for both the GPU and CPU on my Acer Swift X 14.

This stuff is pretty hard to apply, its sticky and breaks apart as well, tbh wasn't worth the effort. Had to freeze it and use a needle to peel back the film and once its on the die don't try to re-adjust or pull it off, as its just going to break apart.

The extra thickness of it didn't cause issues when reinstalling the HSF? Is it like putty when pressure is applied to it causing excess amounts squeezed out from the sides?

Nope thickness didn't matter, when it heats up it just oozes out the sides yea.

Consistency of a very thin thermal pad (room temp).

What are you doing that you need a high volume of LM?

To answer the question Conductonaut Extreme is still the best LM. The best cheap LM is Phobya Liquid Metal, but it's not easily available in Australia.

Use case? Liquid metal is fun but risky if you're going for an overclocking record by all the means. But don't use it on anything you can't afford to replace, or loose all the data on.

No use case just yet I just like to stock on at least couple system rebuilds worth of supply especially considering liquid metal paste isn't as economically priced as normal goop.

You can get 5g of conductanaut regular for under $50 that'll do multiple systems easily.

But that's regular conductonaut no? Not the Extreme sku which is liquid metal?

That's also liquid metal. Extreme is the same but tolerates much lower temps for sub zero pots. Regular conductanaut will be fine for systems.

Counterfeit PTM would be worse than genuine in terms of results, longevity and etc, though.
