Keen to get my hands on one of these, anyone suggest a good place to pre-order one at a reasonable price? Usually I would go to bhphoto.com, but with the tanking AUD maybe not worth it anymore.
Found it on the CameraPro website, nothing on DigiDirect that I could see... http://www.camerapro.com.au/sony-nfc-camera-cyber-shot-rx100-ii-australian-stock-pre-order-now.html Don't like my chances of getting my hands on one before PAX (19th July) though.
Thanks guys. Given Camerapro are in Brisbane and they seem to know what an RX100 II is, they might be a start. Photocontinental had no info on it at all.
Well I rang Camerapro to find out an ETA, I was told "maybe before Christmas". WTF? Anyway, I've put my name down on the list at Teds in the city. They couldn't offer a ETA yet, but given its released in the US later this month I can't see it being that much longer. Teds had the same price. It's not up on the Sony website for preorders yet either.
I'm dead keen to get this camera but never have any success with pre-orders. I always seem to be able to buy one locally before the pre-order ships and end up having to cancel it. Pre-orders prevent me being able to negotiate on price also. Just have my fingers crossed that they hit retailers quickly. Ie before the 22nd or I'm buying in the UK.
You're right. I'll see how it pans out. No cash down by me as yet. I haven't found anyone doing it cheaper than $799 yet.
All the places offering pre-orders seem to have ship dates after the 20th. BH is 24th, and Sony's online store is the 26th. Will give money to whomever can get one in my hands before the 19th.
Looked at 5 swedish online stores.. and asked in one physical store.. no delivery dates here either just yet Sony's site says *the middle of July* so might be avalible soon
Lol. Madly trying to find one to pick up next weekend at the latest also. Otherwise I'll have to buy in Europe and will more likely get totally screwed over on price. Part of me is thinking I should go Mk1 but I know that I would regret it later. Cmon Sony. Gimme some love already.
Yeah, I'm kinda thinking the Mk I too — it lacks Wi-Fi and the better low-light performance and the price is friendlier and I could probably sell it off and not lose too much on it, but ehhhh, effort.
It's up on Sony's Aus website now. Hoping for a release this week with local stock. (fingers crossed.) http://www.sony.com.au/product/dsc-rx100+ii
Picked up on of these babies today from my local Sony Centre. Might take a bit of getting used to the ol' point-and-shoot way of doing things (coming from a modern film rangefinder), but it should be good. Just in time for PAX Aus, too 'Scuse the super crappy photo.
Tidy work dude. I spent last night looking at options to get one in London as I leave next week. Small possibility I might be able to get one from a Sony centre in Aus now. Whoohoo. What the...Sony stores are only in 4 Aus states. Urrgghh :-(
Hrm. I've not heard boo from Teds here in Brisbane who I have an order with. Might give them a call! Edit: Just rang. Apparently still only limited availability. You got lucky! Edit 2: They have advised no availability until end August?
Bummer - the first lot must have sold out within the pre-orders (or otherwise Sydney got more stock or something). Sorry to hear.
Tried out the PlayMemories mobile app today. Kind of gimmicky, but I'll admit being able to control the camera via Wi-Fi and have the images transferred instantly to the phone is kinda cool. Shame the app has almost no options to control exposure. You get photo and video options and you can zoom, but that's about it
