Because it is in every way (except for the art) a new game. New textures, new models, new animations, new dialogue, new maps.

I'd happily pay $20 for this, probably more. But I think $20 is the sweet spot for something like this

I am shocked and disgusted that you didn't buy the Gold pack when HL2 was released

Yeah, sucked me in. I'll pick up this one as soon as it's out! I loved the original Half Life, where else, I only enjoyed the second. There's a big difference in those two emotions. ;)

Sorry, but did one of those guys above say "the worst sequel ever"?

*cough* He wasn't referring to HL2 was he? I mean... HL2 was... completely brilliant... He couldn't have been...

My God, that looks awesome. Honestly, if someone can make this 1998 again I'd definitely buy that!

I died a little inside when I read his comment.

Back to topic, I'd pay $40-$50 (AUD) for this, if it had Valve's blessing and upgraded my existing copy of Half Life Source.

Go buy half life source, come back and report your findings.

To save you the trouble: About the only difference is that water looks better.

That's it. Everything else is the same and some parts of it are actually a bit broken.

It would be worse for it. Evidence: Counterstrike and DoD. Both had considerable creative direction changes after being bought and ended up crapper in the end. Dumbed down and cut back.

Games made with passion are always better than games made for money. It's a shame that the latter often overrides the former.

Man, I hope they do a Source version of Opposing Force as well. That would be fucking sick!

It's a free mod guys. All you need is to have a source game already like CSS, HL2, Orange Box, TF2 etc and you'll be able to download and play this.

it cant *not* be free -- all source mods legally have to be (unless valve buys in on it ofcourse)

I agree the team should get something for their effort, it must be hard trying to make a living and making a free mod at the same time. Valve should give them something as it will promote all their games and they have plenty of money!

Looking forward to this, but would not want to pay more than $20AU if it's exactly the same content. If there were additions made.. then possibly. Either way, HL is one of the greatest games i've played, hands down.
