That's sucky. Any reason why? Hasn't the 8707 been a strong seller?

it hasn't been a big seller in retail channels. obviously, the business arm has had a better run with it, but, without the figures in retail, can't expect much to happen as far as changing models quickly is concerned...

Manager at work got one of these last week from the RIM launch & our Optus units turn up today so I've had a bit of a play whilst activating the units.

Nice looking handset although not as blown away as I thought it would be.

Screen / browser is definitely an improvement though.
    General functionality seems snappier.

i agree, i just moved from my 8820 to the bold.
it really isnt any different than using os4.5 on the 83xx or 88xx berries.

battery life, seems to be no better than os4.5 on curve and 8820.
but definately a few hours behind the curve and 8820 on os4.2.

i think, RIM purposely killed the battery on os4.5 to pull it in line with os4.6 so most people wont notice ;)

i can stream youtube over wifi. i havent tried to stream youtube over 3g yet.
i know i couldnt stream youtube over GPRS tho.

    BIS and optus.

    Question:

I have an iPhone, on Optus, if I was to buy an UNLOCKED Bold, and pull the sim out of it and into the Bold, would it work without a problem ? Also pulling down emails from my gmail account, if I was to "download" them onto the iPhone, would they then appear on the Bold's inbox when the sim is reinserted?

I'm thinking of getting one from ebay... but I really want to get out of my Optus contract with the iPhone, with 2.1 firmware, I'm still getting random drop outs and my signal is fucking flakey as hell.

you will need to add a BIS plan ontop of the existing plan you are on currently. around $40 a month for unlimited email.

not unless u live in north america, its virtually useless for australia.

If I buy a Telstra branded Bold, how easy is it to unlock and use with 3?

Is getting rid of the Telstra branding (icons, logos, etc.) as simple as doing a factory reset?

Also is the Telstra version crippled in any way when compared to an unbranded Bold?
