EDIT: As most of you already know, things have progressed a lot since the original post below. To that end, I need to insert an advisory. As follows: I don't do commissions, but If you join the Blades By Baz Facebook group, keep your eye on it and be the first one to put your hand up when I announce a knife is complete and available. To explain: Although I do now have a full-time job making knives for a forge, my knife making at home has never been a business. I make one now and then to fund projects like the Iron Man suit and the Colonial Viper build. Doing commission work has too many pitfalls and raises expectations too stressy for me. The way I do it now takes the pressure off my family and I, plus keeps the onus on those who want a knife enough to keep watch for the one they want. Cheers! Baz. BACK TO THE ORIGINAL POST. On suggestion from the, "Show me your knife" thread, I thought it might be fun for all to start a build thread on knives. Here we go. What a wonderful way to express beauty, sculpt and improvisation in an artform that has practical uses once complete! I Found a few scraps and ideas started flying. For my first attempt, I found an old mower blade, (very hard steel), a copper gas pipe, a brass welding rod, brass bolt and some Eucalyptus deadwood. I Finished off the knife and hopefully did it justice with the 650D and 18-55kit outside in the twilight. Going to start another one soon. I think I need practice. Already I see ways I could have done it better.
