Looks like a bit of fun with the sparkler there! He was hiding well behind the third shot it seems, but I really like them all. What was the reason for the shoot?

    Here's my fav 3 shots.

Being the first time there it was a hard place to shoot for me personally - so we decided to pull out the sparklers and have a little fun.

As Oz said, it's important to know that we did have permission to enter the grounds after hours.

you really need to go shoot during the full moon, then its all about the long exposures.

Yeah most definitely, the clouds last night made it a bit tricky I found.

I really like everythng about the last shot you posted besides the person in it. It just seems tacky, like an attempt at a ghost.. Cool ideas for a shoot though.

Not like, it is an attempt at a ghost, more of a muck around really :D I have a 'non-ghost' version as well.

It was organised by the Flickr Brisbane Meetup group - http://www.flickr.com/groups/brisbane_meetup/. Well worth joining, there is usually a decent turnout at most events.

i like the first shot oz, looks like he's about to jump through a portal. love the light transition on the crosses.

imo, the B&W doesn't really work.

    I've been told I'm a good model ;)

Yeah, the normal version didn't look right to me colour wise, hence a B&W conversion to make it look a little different :D

Had a bit of a flashback to year 10 English and "To Kill a Mockingbird" when I first saw the sparkler & cross shots :)

#2 looks awesome, nice work

Fantastic effect there! Do you mind letting on with some of the technical aspects used to create that shot? What exposure time/aperture etc? Also, what gear did you shoot with?

The reason I ask is this sort of shot is exactly what I'm experimenting with at the moment - low light long exposures.

Not too much really. For my first shot you see there, these are the stats:

    Exposure: 30 sec (30)
    Aperture: f/5
    Focal Length: 28 mm
    ISO: 200
Canon 400D, Sigma 18-200mm OS Lens (OS turned off as on a tripod ;) )

We were trying to keep it down to 30 seconds for each shot - gives you enough time to do the sparkling and get a decent effect.

I think I shone my torch onto the angels face to get auto focus, but you could switch to manual and select the 'infinity' option.

Not too much post process actually on mine, Oz probably did a little more to his.

I posted in here not sure why it was deleted but the guy who posted before me was being an ass to the OP about standing on graves so i made a sarcastic post which i guess someone took as being legit. I like the set, good work.
