The only issue I had was playing blu-ray rips over wireless. Once I connected the PC to the network via cable it was a lot happier and very awesome. Had mine for a few weeks now and definitely glad that I've got it.

Seems that it's the end of the line for Boxee as we know it:

So... no more updates, no more units to purchase. Support will remain but that's about it.

...and to think I only picked up a Boxee a few months ago :(

Well thing that annoys me most about boxee is they been focused on making money. For example because based on XBMC they removed some code which would allowed people to use HDhomerun devices, Until recently they added their own code for a partners device only

boxee sucks, don't get it. doesn't even run 3TB hdds and it's one of the most expensive media players out there. we ended up getting a WD TV Live, now my boxee just collects dust. they promised a firmware update over 2 years ago but still nothing.

Why? Because someone posted a dead link?

Works perfectly without updates already, so not fussed at all...

Apparently Boxee took the post down after a couple of days. However, here is the content of it:

Along the lines of the above posts, it appears no more updates for the Boxee Box as it is phase out in lieu of the BoxeeTV

    http://www.slashgear.com/boxee-box-user-support-ends-entirely-16252079/

Bit sad as it's been a near-perfect little workhorse for me. But I suppose, if it ain't broke, I have no need to replace it.

(Ironically, the Squeezebox Touch sitting next to it has been discontinued too :upset: )

I have a boxee, from oct. 2011 I'm glad I got it, mainly because it's easy for my gf to watch movies and put stuff on, without any tech knowledge required.

It can stream blu-ray fine (ie; 10gb version off avatar) over N, I have a wireless router close by.

I would have loved it to have a PVR function also, with external USB

So I guess one day this will end up on another TV, a Boxee with PVR + usb 3.0 etc, would be nice. I don't use it to stream much, but it would be nice if I could record live TV.

Sad to hear no more updates?

The only problem with mine is occasionally it may freeze, I don't turn it off.. soft shutdown (from remote) sometimes doesn't work, need to pull power cable or just hold the button down on top ..

I recently purchased a boxee (mainly because i liked the look of the way it catalogued things). Anyway, I'm having difficultly getting the trailers to work. So do and some don't.

When it doesn't work, it shows the message "file / video not available" or something along those lines.

How do i get those missing trailers to work?
