Whats a nice classy cocktail bar in the CBD? Only one I know of is the cocktail bar at marco polo at the casino. Something along the lines of cloudland or zuri but in the CBD. Doesnt have to be as big as those 2 though.
My Favourites: The Bowery (Valley) The Lark (Paddington) I don't think there is much in the CBD, really. If something does come up in this thread, I'd be keen to check it out.
This... take a cab to the valley and check it out you won't be disappointed. However it does get busy on weekends but that just proves my point
A few of my favourites City The Laneway Westend Sling Lounge Valley Garuva Restaurant - They have a bar in the back Skyroom - They have Jugs of cocktails Laruche The Bowery - Sometimes it's too busy. Espresso martini is delicious. Don't get the cocktail that comes in a jar and is red, taste like poison.
the bowery is very good KG Bar on turbot st is very good - strawberry mojito yes please. topside of brunswick st mall opposite the beat is a fantastic (but expensive) cocktail bar, cant remember the name sorry.
whats the dress code like at the bowery? is it anal like cloud lands or will i get in with casual white canvanse shoes?
ok so i checked out the bowery on saturday night. it was real nice. I gave the expresso martini a shot, wasnt too keen on it, it had a way too strong and bitter coffee taste. I also tried the zombie, which was magnificant. Singapore sling was also nice.
Check out Dragonfly in the City. Where Rosies used to be, Across the road from Queensplaza on Edward St (Near Starbucks). Its only been opened about 2 weeks and its very nice. Music's pretty good too actually.
good to hear you liked the zombie/sling - once you have more than a few zombies in 1 night, you end up turning into one the vodka expresso is quite strong and If you don't like real coffee (rather than ice break/dare) then as you said it will seem a little strong/bitter. While most cocktails seem to run from $15-$18 it may sound expensive, but when you read the menu and see how much goes into each one then it really doesn't end up any more expensive then having standard priced beers/basics at a normal bar.
