Sold and bought a new one dude, that was completely old newz. Anyway I got a job in Singapore so I won't be joining you guys for a while.

I'm willing to hear alternate venue suggestions, though.

 

Ha! I've never been there so I couldn't comment on it's appropriateness for large gatherings. I'd prefer coffee over beers but I'd come if the majority are for the pub. The only suggestion I have is Aromas where the Regent is.

I'm very suggestible.

 

Oh, I prefer coffee, too. Either that or what used to be the Java Coast, next to what used to be the Dendy. Great little secret coffee spot. Goddamnit, forget what it's called.

That's probably not helpful.

On the plus side, it's next to the Grosvenor, so if we get bored and want to see tits...though they're probably not too keen on cameras.

I don't usually drink in the city, I've been to Brew a few times which was ok. Is naked coffee any good?

 

Was my daily when I went to uni, back to some Merlo now since it's closer to work.

No atmosphere compared to Brew since it's about 1cm3, directly across from Violent Green, super quick and super tasty.

'Course, if you wanted kick-arse coffee, I'd recommend Roost, but that's at QUT Kelvin Grove, and out of the city, and I won't be that dickhead that selects his favourite haunt because it's easy for everyone to get to and to hell with everyone else.

Fucking great beer though. Bespoke stuff, from Brews Bros.

You wanna try to get in there with camera gear, go ahead. I'll wait outside, protecting my cameras and jaw from getting smash by some shaved ape in a polo shirt with "SECURITY" across the back .

Address is 270 Ann Street, Brisbane City.

Directions from Central Station: exit the concourse, past the ticket barriers, and opposite them is a sign which says "GRAND CENTRAL HOTEL" pointing down some stairs. Or just exit through the main exit, which spits you out on the corner of Ann and Edward streets, turn left, walk along the footpath until you see a bunch of umbrellas and stools and tables and smokers in front of a building with some flags hanging off it, and, funnily enough, "GRAND CENTRAL HOTEL" in large, serif letters on the front.

Directions from King George Square Bus Way. Exit on Adelaide street, turn left. Walk past Ted's and Camera House, don't worry, there's rarely anything good in there, to the corner of Adelaide and Edward. Turn left again, walk up the hill past the backpacker's, cross Edward Street, then cross Ann Street (or cross Ann then Edward,) then head along this side of the road until you come to the same building as described in the Central Station Directions.

I'll aim for the quiet part of the bar, which is a little alcove behind the "back" bar, if it's open, at the end of the hotel furthest from the station. It's a little concrete section with a few couches, next to the bottle shop, and visible but not accessible from Ann Street through a steel gate.
