when I first signed up a was rather pleased with 80d/30u result from speedtest.. haven't done one in a while.
We have an extra person staying atm, so we've used ~430GB/500GB, so I switched out the Optus sim, for an amaysim, which usually lives in a phone of mine (the amaysim is $64/500GB/m, uses Optus network). Plugged in amaysim, ran a speedtest.. 160d/45u :D :D :D

going to have to do another speedtest on the Optus sim once the new bill month rolls in 8/3

That Amaysim plan is 500G!? Or is that a typo, meant to be $64/50GB/28days ?
I dont see any 500GB amaysim plans on their website.

This speed difference between an Optus 4G mobile SIM and their HWB plans is something reported many times in various forums, and has been my exact experience .
The CIS for Optus' HWB plans do not declare any speed limitation, but its definitely limited to buggery. I could get 167Mbps with my Exetel (optus) phone SIM but no better than 12/5Mbps with the HWB SIM. Same tower. Same Cell ID.

    28 days - 1 month, same diff
you won't see it on amaysim because it was a special deal for ppl who were with jeenee mobile, which was then bought out by amaysim, it was a 'please-stay-on-with-amaysim' deal. With jeenee mobile I was paying 60/250GB/m, so for extra $4 I get double the data.

Last time I checked, there are currently 12 months in a year, not 13, so really its $69.33 /mth
But thats still a good deal you have there..

ok, altho the new bill cycle hasn't come in yet, I've switched the sim back to the Optus one - I doubt the fam will suck down the remaining 50GB in two days! :p

well.. something must've happened between the time I did the speedtest about a year ago and now, because the speedtest with the Optus sim yielded the same results as the Amaysim sim: ~165 down / 45 up. I ran speedtest on Amaysim just before taking it out. So yeah, all good, all consistent, and ofc, a pleasant surprise! :D
