The Viper has stalled for a bit for a number of reasons and will resume next week. In the mean-time, I am busy in the kitchen late at night working on preliminary modelling and planning for my next big project. For now, I am fleshing out a 550mm tall paper model of the kick-ass Enforcement Droid, to have a look at the different parts and start planning for a life-size build at 3.5 metres tall. The idea here is to establish a shape, however flimsy, as a guide. Standard A4 is difficult to work with because it buckles and distorts so much, but it is far more accurate to the sub-millimetre than thicker material. The inside can be lined with pieces of thicker card, hot-glued, or even filled with expanding foam. Once supported, the outside can be hardened, refined and sanded. After that, holes can be drilled, parts can be cut off and detailed, replaced, refined – the sky is the limit.
