picked mine up just now. solid stuff!
    Thanks, Ronald!

if the stand's to be used specifically for a strobe, what's the use of the other gobo head? should we just leave it off?

    actually found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ph4zDJV_m4

will try to look for the pin

You can buy a baby pin to attach to the gobo head.

I personally bought a drop down pin to hang the light upside down - it allows you to angle the modifer without putting torque on the arm making it easier to set up and more stable.

I will use the other gobo on the other side to make sure my counter weight doesnt slide off

To the second group - I hope to pay them today (once they confirm with me) and hopefully yours will get shipped today or tomorrow

What stand did you guys end up getting? As per usual, long after the group buy I am in the position to be able to buy one.

I was not part of the group buy, but I got some Jinbei M3 boom stands, and while technically not a C Stand, it is serves the same purpose, and under $200 each (Don't want to say how much I actually got them for as I got a special price ;)).

It was the xlite - a generic brand which Kayell sells

That's a generic stand which Jinbei rebrand, I have it too. I found it too unsteady when boomed, I still did it but wasn't confident.

Now having a stainless steel C stand, I sorta just want to get a mathews/avenger/kupo wheeled light stand. C stand is heavy and the small footprint sorta sucks lol

I have only used it a few times but it seems pretty good for the price. I don't use it with the boom arm extended out too far so it is well balanced for me. I still want a counter weighted boom arm (gas resistance one), but those things are so large and impractical to cart around.

Gas resistance boom arm? Who makes them - that sounds interesting. Would it be ok on a wheeled stand?

Some of the junior stands are massive (can probably hold human) seem to wheel around fairly easily.

They come with a stand. They are normally made to hold a large movie camera, but can be used to hold a light. You don't tighten them, they just stay where you move them. The base is massive. I have used a number of studios in London with them. Will see if I can find a link when I get a chance.

Does the xlite have the turtle base where they fold up? I'm wanting one that's easily transported.
